The phone actually is good enough to keep on selling a LOT. It's an amazing phone. period.

I'm predicting the phone sells more than 10 million by Christmas.

Old and washed up? eh, I'll just make a wild guess that the 5th gen is going to sell like wildfire when it comes out next year based on the quality of all the previous generations.

You can bash this company all you want but the fact remains, they can build one hell of a phone.

Dude really ?? a phone is for the making and taking of Phone calls, Period. this is a bad phone if you have to hold it a certain way to make phone calls. It's a bad phone if the network it's on is not reliable. It's only a phone by name, it's a great new Ipod touch and thats about it.

do what you what but calling it an awsome phone when the point of a phone is to make calls and it is a fact that this new "IPhone" is having trouble doing that is silly. Your a fan boy, it's ok i know this and i'm ok with that. i believe fan boys play an intrical part in consumerisum. But be honest for once this is a bad phone but a great Device for apps and music, like i said Ipod Touch 4.

i did that because it's a matter of semantics....a Phone makes phone calls and this device does, but not very well. to me it's and Ipod touch with a poorly designed phone antenna.

So wait, it doesn't make calls, or it doesn't make calls MOST of the time? Or does it not make calls SOME of the time? or is the issue almost non-existant for most people unless you actually TRY and block the signal?

I might be a fanboy, so I'll just quote PhoneScoop:

When it comes to voice, the signal performance rated no better or worse than the 3GS. That's not a compliment. In just a day of use each, we both experienced multiple dropped or failed calls. Color us unimpressed. The signal meter doesn't exaggerate. If you only have two bars, you may be able to make a call, but don't expect to hold onto it for long. Some people have reported worse performance making calls with the phone in their left hand; Philip was able to

You're right about the 4G being a glorified iPod Touch, but I think you meant to type "integral" and "consumerism".

Strange, my iPhone 4 has yet to drop a phone call, but you say that it is so bad, that it does not have the ability to call anyone..also, anyone who thinks of not getting a case for this phone is a complete retard. end of story. strange how you lose reception when you PALM the phone, which, would make the phone a pain to use when trying to call on the phone, if you hold it like I see everyone else holding their phone, it works fine.

this is why you're wrong. att has more cell cites than any service provider, they are spending billions every year to improve the areas where their signal has been taxed to the point of failing. not every where has problems. you make sweeping generalizations based on a few bad areas. yes they have problems, every carrier has them. they arent a bad company. i for one have NEVER had issues with them and i have had them since i was 18.

the facts are...the iphone does have that signal flaw which is why i will not buy one until it is fixed, i never buy anything as soon as it comes out unless it's an album of a band i enjoy.

people still love the phone and apple products. it's absolutely retarded for you and anyone else to post hate filled c...

AT&T has network issues in NEW YORK !!!! really it's the largest city in this country and it has network issues there, i've been from east coast to west coast and i've hear from the mouths of users that AT&T's network sucks, from east to west.......how is what i'm saying hate filled ? I'm a consumerist, i want AT&T to have a good network, i want APPLE to but a great phone. this is not a great phone, a great device yes, but it honesly is having issues doing what a phone is supposed to do, make phone calls. Some times you have to face fact and call a spade a spade.

ok lets call it a spade then...people love it and continue to buy it despite its flaws...

and att. new york has the most people per square mile than any city in our country, with more people in an area using data intensive devices of course there is going to be problem. neither att nor big red nor sprint could have handled that much activity at one time. HOWEVER, with all the back hauling and improvements being made, more towers and 850 overlay to existing towers, customers are having a noticeably better experience there and in san fran.

and lets be honest with ourselves. people are more likely to be vocal about a bad experience than they are when things are going just fine.

ahh i was waiting to the "they couldn't of done it either" arguement.....like i said before i hope AT&T does improve it's network, but again a phone company is for making phone calls. Iphone (or any other phone on AT&T) can't be reliable on AT&T as of right now. If they improve and are more reliable good for the consumer, and now the Iphone is having trouble because people are holding it wrong? Yeah people will buy it despite it's falws because honeslt Apple fanboys don't hold apple accountable.....i'm sorry anything i buy the company who build it is resposible, i also do as much research on the produce. if i buy something i want it to do what it's supposed to do. Most Fanboy for anything (not just Apple fanboys) won't, they are loyalist whi...

however...people still bought the nexus one when it wasnt compatable with tmobile's 3g network.

Great post...I totally agree.

No one can bash the iPhone's design, its popularity, user friendliness, or the features that it has. But as an actual PHONE...the device is average at best, and the network that it is on does not do it any justice. To defend a phone that has trouble doing the one thing it is supposed to do, that being to make calls, is erronious. My advice, buy an Ipod touch and switch to a carrier who can be relied upon and a phone that has no problems making a phone call.

i like how you like to try and call out anyone who disagree with you by calling them a troll, ha ha that's orignal....i guess i have to say this every third post or so.....i like apple....i like capitalisum.....but when you look at the facts as a phone the Iphone is subpar, as an ipod touch with a telephone antenna in it, it's great.

as for trolling another forum this forum is about a noted issue with the iphone and thats what i've been talking about this whole time because it is an issue. now if you want to continue to drink the kool-ade thats fine with me, i have no problem with that, enjoy it.

I call out anyone who uses name calling as a foundation for argument.

Or those who see a post about a phone they are already pre-dis-positioned against and click it just to see who they can piss off.

ha ha when did i call you a name ? i said your blind because you are, there is an over welming amount of facts saying this phone is having issues, yet you contine to say how great it is, that people are going out of there way to replicate the issue, and then in one of your other post you say how you want to by the best phone on the market when clearly this is not the best phone. Your the one who said to grow up, your the one who called me a troll. how do i have, how did you say "pre-dis-positioned" view, when i say in damn near every post, I like apple ? Yet in the Droid X fourm you stated that you posted in there to get something started. if you want to agree to disagree thats one thing, but lets not play this point the finger game.

The PHONE might be really great as a data tablet, but if the PHONE has this serious of an issue making PHONE calls, then that is not acceptable. justfine, I know you are an Apple fanboy, and I say that without any venom, but you have to admit this is a pretty big problem for an iPHONE. The device might be pretty, polished, and have cool apps, but most users still need a phone. And Apple's advice to get a case is absurd. Their engineers are amazing, they should have had this sorted before it even went to production.

justfine, I know you are an Apple fanboy,

fair enough, I am someone who owns and appreciates the value of what I believe to be a superior product...

You don't like Apple, so I am going to go ahead and call you an "Anti-Apple fanboy"

adds just about as little to the conversation doesn't it?

moving on

Reviews have placed the iPhone's signal strength a little above average with voice and the reviews mostly say it's WAAAAY above average with data.

Most people have to purposely TRY and replicate this issue.

Alright, I was trying to be cool. My point, justfine, is that you are defending a product with a MAJOR issue simply because you have a bias. That's great that it has excellent signal for data, but it is still a PHONE. I don't know how else to explain this to you. If you can't use an iPHONE to make PHONE calls if you hold it a certain way (which is how most people would hold it- i don't always keep my phone in my right hand) then there is a problem. That's great it can handle data. Although that makes little sense. Its still using the same 3G radio to make calls and use data, so how is it that calls drop but data stays connected?
Moving on, this is not an issue that can be just brushed aside. Nor is it acceptable that Apple simply ...
