AT&T: Call Quality Almost There

"major effort to improve the quality of its network" = changing the voice codec from AMR to Half Rate. Less compression = better sounding voice. But that's not an upgrade. Just conjecture.

Should be interesting to see what this does to their dropped call issue (which was caused by data congestion more than anything)

Actually, it's not just that. There was an article on here a while back that had mentioned a lot to do with moving away from copper wiring to fiber optics, spending a crap load to activate new towers and converting a lot of the more populated 2G areas to 3G. I've noticed a huge improvement in my area around St. Louis and things weren't even really bad here to start, but we still got a big boost.

I've had dropped calls on Vzn's supposed supior network, both myself in Las Vegas, and my mother in Ct. I don't think Vzn is any better than ATT.

Just Verizon happens to have worthy Android smartphones, whereas ATT doesn't.

Just goes to show you that location is king. Even Verizon doesn't work perfectly everywhere.

I never said verizon was perfect. But Att phone seem to have an issue where they will show full coverage, but they can't make a call (for whatever reason)
