$200.00??? They're going to sell 4 of these.

$200.00 is pretty steep for something that is slower than a Nexus One, is littered with the terrible HTC Sense UI, won't ship with Android 2.2, and only comes with a 2GB Memory Card.

i hope steve jobs forces ATT to put iphone4 and this htc garbage next to each other! this will make even more people to get iphone4!
iphone4 got 960x640 resolution!, while this htc garbage got HVGA at 480x320! that is like comparing a analog tv to a HDTV! big difference!

We put the 3GS next to the Evo running a game app that is common to Android and the iPhone (LineUp) The Evo's screen is much more responsive than the iPhone's. The iPhone often does not recognize a tap on the screen. The Evo always recognizes the taps. Game play on the Evo is far superior to the iPhone.
What are you saying about HTC trash? After spending a week comparing the two and then to make it fair comparing the iPhone to a HTC Hero running 2.1 there is no comparison. It took some time but the Android phones have surpassed Apple.
AT&T is smart to get a better Android phone than the bizarre backflip.

I don't know what you're smoking, what's wrong with your iPhone, but the Evo's touchscreen is about in line with the Nexus One's.

Simply put, you're making this up.

Why is it that you never can admit that there are other devices out there that top the iPhone?

I am not making it up, the EVO is way more responsive. I even told you which app I was using so you could try it yourself.
The EVO tops the 3GS in almost everything from a users point of view. We will see about the iPhone 4 which I will also sell.

He will never see this logic. Resistance is futile.

I have nothing to lose or gain by posting my thoughts on this forum. I do not work for any carrier. I have mentioned numerous times to him that I have friends that bought the Evo. They just came off a three year stint owning iphones. They are blown away on how powerful and fast the Evo is. They feel like they have been sheltered from the world owning the iphone. While the iphone4 is a nice upgrade with many compelling features over the 3Gs, it still comes up slightly short of current offerings of other phones and by years end, will be trailing by far more.

Just for the record: I too, was not a proponent of Android. I took my chance with the Evo. Wow!

I sell Android AND iPhone. Why would I spit in my own soup? I was careful to say iPhone 3GS and not claim to have an iphone 4. I quoted the app which is common to both.

Why this religious devotion to Apple? They are a mere manufacturer. Why do people allow a company to control their entire experience with the product. it makes no sense. Isn't open source better than being controlled?

The problem here with Apple supporters(I really hate the word fanboi), is that because the iphone DOES do some things better than other phones, it seems to justify sacrificing common sense in practicality.

While the iphone is elegant, sophisticated and luxurious, it is not practical. Blue claims the iphone does things better. I tend to agree. However, it doesn't do many things I desire. On tip of lacking features, I will not succumb to control and dictation. I deal with that every day at work. I don't need it on a product I pay top buck for. My phone, my choice. This is how Apple lost market share many years ago. It is starting to happen all over again.

I chose to exchange detail for favor of more function and freedom.

I'm not saying there aren't. But I call a spade a spade, and I'm calling BS on your touchscreen claims when I've already seen reports on the iPhone's screen accuracy (hint: it's exceptionally good.) Especially when you're telling people a phone known to have sensitivity issues is superior.

Bull. Crap.

They either have a Nexus One if they're an Android fan, or they want an iPhone.

Nobody says "Gee, I want a phone like an iPhone, but with a worse display, slower UI, less responsive touchscreen, terrible warranty support, a craptastic UI (Sense) , a smaller app store, a lower quality app store, a questionable upgrade path, and a likely chance the phone will bug out within 4 months."

True. But some are also saying, why bother dealing with a craptastic carrier like AT&T who is overpriced and now stingy with their data when they can buy an Evo instead with a much better voice and data plan and way better 3g coverage. Even with the $10 add on charge, it still beats AT&T's competing plan by...

At Android 1.6, Sense might've been a plus. At Android 2.2, Sense is a major hindrance.

P.S. Sprint's 3G coverage may be broader than AT&T's, but their actual network coverage is far worse. Not helping is the fact that their 3G network is slow as hell too.

Where I live Verizon and Sprint both lack coverage. Additionally, from my experience AT&T doesn't screw up billing like Sprint does.

Why is there such an assumption that everyone wants an iPhone? Android is not an iPhone wanna be it is a great standard in itself.
The iPhone is a great device, no question but Android is very powerful and user friendly. The base of apps is growing quickly. The majority of the apps are free unlike going through iTunes.
Most of what you are saying is your opinion and cannot really be proven.
We deal with plenty of defective iPhones so that is a wash. The upgrade path is not at all questionable. When a new version of Android arrives you download it if the manufacturer of the phone allows for it.
Are you saying that every engineer who does not work for Apple is stupid? What you perceive to be a weakness is also a strength, that there are...

Translation: I didn't see Google's developer conference last month.

"The majority of the apps are free unlike going through iTunes. "

Translation: I am unaware of all of the free applications available on the iPhone.

"We deal with plenty of defective iPhones so that is a wash."

Translation: I've never dealt with HTC's customer support.

"The upgrade path is not at all questionable. When a new version of Android arrives you download it if the manufacturer of the phone allows for it."

Translation: down is up.

How nice of you to read my mind and say what I could not say due to my limited intellect.
On your planet is there anyone who can communicate other than you? I have told you I have respect for the iPhone Why did you not translate that?
You talk like you are some high level developer but you appear to be totally ignorant of how a user's experience matters. Are you so far into the world of ones and zeros that you see no value in real world usage?
My customers do not care about the junk you spout. Their question is "how will it work for me?" For them it's a matter of "what is best FOR ME?" It could be RIM, Winmo, iPhone, Android or a phone first device.

My original post was merely as a user stating an experience but you felt like I was...

But then, what Android choices do ATT subs have? Many I know that have ATT, simply don't like the Backflip due to both screen and Keyboard being exposed 24/7. The Nexus is too expensive out of pocket. So the Aria will allow many ATT subs that do wish to own an Android, will give them that better option over the Backflip.

In our Best Buy, we know more than most anybody in any of the carrier stores. And we sell three different carriers. This is the case in pretty much every Best Buy I've been into also. theyre not totally inept. Any moron can learn the specs of a phone, but send a customer back to a Best Buy 6 months after buying the phone from them with some questions and try to get the care and attention they would get in the carrier store. Customers should also know that if you buy your phone at a Best Buy or dare I say walmart, dont come to me and expect to get a lesson on how to use your phone. 😎

I am not a big fan of BB, but, I will say this, I was treated right and taken care of well by the local BB when it came to upgrading my mobile data from my older usb dongle to a Sprint Overdrive. Was significantly cheaper then Sprint, they department manager even got me the overdrive/ipad case which isn't available in my area. I might agree with you on other departments in the store, but not with these people.
