Regulators to Probe Apple's Exclusion of Google's AdMob
iAd on Android devices???
Isn't Google doing the same thing Apple is doing? Purchasing a mobile advertising company so they can produce a greater profit for their company? Why then should they insist on another company allowing them to make money off of their product?
It isn't like AdMob designed, developed and manufactured their own hardware, software AND advertising strategy into one convenient package for consumers. Apple does. Hell, even Google doesn't make their own hardware!!!!
Google makes a TON of money off of Apple as it is with their search engine being the out-of-box default on the iPhone so why shouldn't Apple implement their own advertising system?
Doesn'...

So yes you will see iAd used in Google apps but not vice versa.
Google is already allowing other ad service to make money and Apple is also allowing other ad companies to make money as long as their name isn’t AdMob.
My personal option as to why they are "blocking" AdMob is due to the data they release to the public showing what percent of people are using any given mobile OS and some of their lasted numbers showed Android catching up fast. So if they get rid of AdMob on Apple device there is no way to get these numbers and Apple can tell us whatever the...

No Google at all. Bing. Yahoo. No Google.
Why would iAd be different?
You can't call out Google for being a hypocrite on this one.
Unless you can show hard proof that, in the legalese that big companies love, more or less says no iAd.
Otherwise... big... pile... of bull#*$& flag called on that play.

Ummm ... Yahoo Android? How much crack did you smoke this mornin?
ATT removed everything related to Google on the Backflip. Are names really necessary?
Anyway, I have the Moto Droid now, I love this smartphone!!!
i understand if you dont care for a phone, but just because you don't like it doesnt mean it's a piece.
I still can't get over that it's the 10th pf June and still no other Android options from ATT.
Sure am glad I gave up on waiting.
It's also on 1.5 (most other motoblur devices are at least 1.6) so it's missing a ton of apps, you can't instal third party apps from anywhere but the marketplace, etc.
not really. Stupid comments like that are well... stupid.
I'm pretty sure I"m not going to be sued... for calling the travesty that is the BackFlip... the Yahoo Android phone.
You *TOTALLY* ignored the entire premise of the reply in relation to the original post:
Original Poster says go after Google for keeping others off of it's platform, while Google allows others do do pretty much whatever they want with Android... including WHOLEFULLY removing Google from it.
Remove head from sphincter.
Might make the world easier to see, and a less smelly place.
this is VERY different from admob, which is a cross platform advertising medium. Google didn't buy admob to make android ad settings specifically.
In fact, if you watched their developers conference, they didn't talk about admob ONCE when it came to developing ads for mobile devices (they were using competing platforms).
Apple bought Quattro to control as much of the advertising as possible on their mobile device. Google bought admob to integrate their entire ad platform into the mobile environment (not just android).
And where was your complaining when apple ...

I am surprised that Google (who owns AdMob now), with the success they have had with Android, has stooped to the level of trying to strong-arm their way into staying on Apple iOS platform. The government has no business being involved with any of this situation.
Also, from my understanding, Google can continue advertising on iOS as long as they do not collect customer information. I could be wrong on that.
And where was I when Apple sued HTC?
-I was sitting back wondering why they were not suing Google for so...

They want their ads to be seen by as many people as possible. Android helps this, but it isn't all they're doing.
This isn't strong arming either. This is a company trying to figure out why a good chunk of their ad revenue is suddenly gone, when the people they were selling the plan to (the developers) arn't the ones telling them it's not allowed.
I think we are all forgetting that AdMob can still advertise as long as it follows the rules.
