Yeah...like the line that says Verizon on it...you don't download "Droid" updates.

Droid is the name of the handset, not the name of the platform/OS. Why is this such an issue with you? Get a life.

Not true. Verizon brands the HTC Incredible, the Eris, the Moto Droid (more or less all of their Android handsets) as 'Droids'. This creates confusion among my customers because every carrier offers at least one Android handset, but only Verizon calls them Droids--as if Verizon offers Android phones that somehow differs from all the other Android handsets out there. Morons.

But "Droid" is still the NAME that Verizon chooses to call its Android handsets. It sets them apart from Verizon's other phones. They obviously have a heavy marketing campaign out there for android and, although I get what you're saying, frankly it seems they've accomplished exactly what they wanted to - to draw attention to their brand and have people asking questions about their droids.

Droid is a marketing term for a particular line of "android" phones. Nobody calls the G1 a droid, or the nexus one a droid. Motorola and Verizon got together and wanted to make this their flagship phone to introduce the android platform to Verizon Wireless customers. They came up with a pretty genius marketing campaign if you ask me. Nice attempt at trolling tho! 😁
