FOR ALL THE SH%T TALKERS

This makes me laugh, because this last 3 weeks have been comical. All these people complaining about sprint charging only $10 dollars for unlimited 3g/4g for handsets when Verizon isn't even going to offer unlimited 4g.

This is not a verizon flame, more so stop being cry babies. No one is forcing you to buy these products, if you want them pay for it if not don't. Like my dad always said " Don't drink Champagne on a Beer Budget"

😉 In fairness I think most the sh$t talking derived from Sprint charging the ten dollars in non 4G areas.

Precisely, charging for a service in an area that it isn't available is called *stealing*!!!!!

It seems as thogh I'm the only person on PS who is honest enough to use the word *stealing* with reguards to charging for a service that's *not available*!!!

If you work for them you should actually know its not a charge for 4g, its for the "data rich services provided" Just like how the iphone charged 30 dollars for data. If you want i can ask my friend for the emails.

I don't see the difference between "data rich services" and 4G, cause when I heard 4G "data rich services" is the first thing I think of, like video.

And no I don't work for them, I'm an actual consumer, not some corporate serving fanboy person.

While we may argue about whether it's worth $10 in a 3G area...

The crux of the issue is really REALLY simple: You don't want to pay the $10? Don't get the phone.

Stealing would imply FORCING you to give $10 a month... there are still *PLENTY* of phones that *DON'T* require an extra fee.

Stop throwing around loaded emotional words that don't properly describe the situation.

Stealing would be "We have decided to retroactively add the $10 fee to all Android phones".

It is easy to say well you don't like it, don't buy it. I don't think that's the point for many who were eager to purchase the EVO. It's without a doubt going to be the most bad ass phone in Sprint's current line-up..and it would just make sense to let everyone enjoy it, and use it in 3G areas without a bull crap charge that they can't use. Would it not make sense for sprint customers to re-up and sign new contracts!, and be in love with a new phone! But noooooo! Sprint is friggin retarded and should modify this blunder. But typical sprint!

First of all we need to realize that Jay is the only one with a valid opinion because after all, Jay doesn't bow down to corporations, he just works security for them.

Second, If you don't like $10 fee then go to VZW and pay $20 for the same plan without the 4g service

Verizon charges 20 for data services?

No, with Sprint 69.99= 450 min plus unlim. txt and data + 10 for Evo/4g

VZW is 89.99 for 450 min unilm txt and data.

So where as Sprint is charging $10 more for this, it is a package that you would spend $20 more than Sprints standard rate if you were to use VZW

I think that's exactly what people have been doing for the last two years! Going to Verizon and AT&T and paying MORE! Which people are doing and willing to pay to be with Verizon. Sprint is shooting themselves in the foot. They think one phone all of a sudden makes them on the same level as Verizon. Think again Sprint you're still at the bottom of the heap.

That's the FACT JACK!

With there crappy customer service, and mediocre coverage, and minimal coverage for 4G, why are they charging the extra 10 bucks? Because they think they can, and once again will be proved wrong.

Verizon can no doubt charge that being a better company with excellent customer service and excellent coverage.

Only company wih 4G, rated #1 by PC Mag for reliability of 3G market (that is more than twice as big as AT&T), higher customer service rating than AT&T & the ONLY wireless company whos customer service rating has RAISED in the last 2 years! Ya, Sprint really sucks!

It hasn't raised enough. True that, Sprint has fastest 3G, but they would be just as slow and lumbering if they had 10x the customers they have now, up on the level of AT&T and Verizon. Verizon still held the mark in that same test for fewest dropped calls and best reception percentage.

Oh man, I love Verizon "Facts"

I know that anytime I am having a rough day and I really need a good pick-me-up-laugh I can always count on a Verizon fanboy to spew something so un-educated that I can't help but chuckle.
Thanks Verizon!

because it's easy.

Verizon didn't lose customers for forcing a $10 data on crap like Env3... or for raising it's ETF... or for nickle and diming for every feature...

In the end... even with $10 data fee: your still paying *A LOT* less for more.

Also as others have pointed out, Sprint is doing better these days. I wouldn't be surprised to see the trend continue.

As a corporate employee (or corporate serving fanboy as you put it) who also doesn't understand the $10 charge, or buy into the "explanation" my employer asks me to use, here's the best i can conjure.

Sprint intended to charge the $10 no matter what, I'm sure as a way to bring in cash for the 4g buildout. Who builds this network? Clear correct? Let's remind ourselves that Sprint doesn't operate the network nor controls the billing of it (clear has that, hence why the sell the services themselves), making sprint a reseller. This in mind, I dont believe sprint can block 4g data usage or really look at a pay-per-use of 4g. This would all be done by Clear who has not been acquired by Sprint. This probably justifies why unlimited 4g is include...

Well keep in mind that Sprint owns 51% of Clear, so when "Clear" builds out a network who's paying for it?
...

Of course Sprint pumps money into Clear, and the additional funding has to come from somewhere. Ownership and maintenance are still two different things, aside from the 51% stake, what other partnership is there? Sprint doesn't maintain it. Sprint doesn't bill it. Sprint uses it. That's about it, hence why i had the thought process.

I think you are quite minimalizing the result of Sprint being the majority stock holder for a company that has higher pricing on their own than Sprint offers to its wireless subscribers!

You could be right. But like i said this was merely an idea. I can't see "4g use" anywhere in the system, leading me to believe that there's just no management of usage on our side.

You're missing the point. Sprint isn't charging for "4G" verbatim, they're charging to have a capless experience (re: no 5GB cap, for example). That, consequently, applies to both 3G and 4G. Browse, download, upload, etc to your heart's content.

So it's a complete misunderstanding, and maybe even a straw man, to misrepresent the $10 charge.

I don't know either buddy but I googled it for you.

A straw man argument is an informal fallacy based on misrepresentation of an opponent's position.[1] To "attack a straw man" is to create the illusion of having refuted a proposition by substituting a superficially similar yet weaker proposition (the "straw man"), and refuting it, without ever having actually refuted the original position.[1][2]

Ok, it is NOT a charge for 4G services ... it is an 'Enhanced Data' package! This allows for support of ALL of the premium features that are able to be used in the Evo, whether in 4G or not! PART of that Enhanced Data package GIVES you unlimited 4G connection!

But what from I understand, Those 10 Washingtons will also relinguish the 5G cap on the 3G once instituted by Sprint. A very small price to pay for a truly unlimited experience from the Evo.

People have to look past home areas. I travel and it is nice knowing I'm covered when being greeted by WiMAX markets that are growing. Also The Evo is going to be heavily marketed in areas that have or are getting WiMAX very soon. Where I live, we are getting WiMAX at the end of June. The Evo is getting a tremendous amount of interest here.
