What are you talking about now?

It is a fun OPT-IN app, it is good for those the think it would interesting to see the tracks they leave. For you not so much. Every app does not need to serve a purpose outside of highlighting what google and friends can do.

Right. I wouldn't want it for normal, everyday use... but I know when I went on vacation, Foursquare was kind of awesome to use. I'm sure this could serve a similar purpose.

I have an app made by Google called My Tracks, sometimes I might be curious how far it is from a certain point to a certain point. I don't use it a whole lot though cause it does use the GPS the whole time.

This could make it a lot easier to retrace your steps.

Or say you are visiting a town, and you stopped at a great restaurant but can't remember the name. pull up latitude and see where you went.

Not to mention those crazy people who make their geo-location into artwork.

I don't think it's such a good idea. If it stored the information only on the phone that might be better but they don't have offline maps. It allows Google more information to collect about you and use that to make money. It also can help you do fun things as a secondary feature. Some people love the cloud and keep all their life there...I am not one of those people.

I really hope you don't have facebook.

For how much people talk about google ignoring privacy.. how often is there an information leak? or where it comes to surface that they're selling non-anonymous consumer information to companies.

But companies like facebook, myspece, twitter, etc are all blatantly selling information and somehow they get a pass.

If you're online, the question isn't if your information is shared, but rather WHO your information is shared with.

Of the options out there, google's proven to be the most trustworthy for me. They're not perfect, but they're better than the rest.
