Now the only three people on Earth that own a Nexus1 can surf the web no holds bar before HTC EVO owners. I can't wait when HTC EVO also receives its update, it'll be frosting added on.

More like a half million... which isn't bad considering most were purchased full retail price, the phone had 0 advertising, and it's soul purpose was to be a test of concept, and be this years Android development phone...

First, a lot of people bought that phone. Second, its Google's phone, so it would get the update first. Third, HTC said the EVO would get the update before year's end.

Besides that everyone knew 2.2 was coming. 2.1 kind of blindsided people (and 2.0 as well, with how fast it came)

Carriers and handset makers are trying to learn from their mistakes. I don't think the delay will be as long for 2.2, especially with OS 4.0 for the iphone rolling out.

All I have to say is I look forward to fining out if your right about the Iphone 4.0 OS pushing 2.2 faster. It'll be interesting to see what Android is likme when it reaches the 4.0 that the Iphone is currently at.

Here's an article you might find interesting. It's about the FTC having Google in the center of it's sights reguarding antitrust, and it's search algorith being neutral with search results.

From The New York Times: Sure, It’s Big. But Is That Bad?

The algorithm can't be neutral.

At it's core, it operates on a referral system. so if you create a website saying facebook is www.facebook.com, and others do as well, that bumps facebook.com up in the search results.

For names like that it doesn't really matter, but where it's important is when I type "Cheapest laptop" it will display the results that other's rated as good places to look. This is why websites like Digg are so popular. By "digging" an article, you are referring it, thus bumping it up in results.

The reason the system can't be totally neutral is that once someone figures out how the search bots (that build the results) work, they can abuse it. My one friend in college paid his way through school showing other comp...

Dude, FB beat Google out by frinkin .4 tenths of a percents, not much. But that is still a very, very astonishing accomplishment, it really is! Especially considering people don't just go to Google from pc's anymore, but also Android smartphones now, which is exploding.

It's more how fast it's been growing. There should be a greater disparity in a few months. It's not that much now. but considering that google is a Search portal and facebook is a website... it's a pretty big deal.

And facebook is selling customer information (specific information, aka John Smith like x and y, this is his email, age, sex, political affiliation, religious views, and hobbies) to advertisers. And somehow get away with it.

Google sells anonymous information (people who like x also like y) and somehow people are freaking out about it.
