at&t is scared the a bunch of current iphone users and new iphone users will jump ship for vzw. The subsidy is huge on those phones the only way to protect it is with a huge term fee.

the etf wont change for those currently in contract because it would be a material change to the customers existing contract where the etf would be waived for us changing the terms.. The ETF is supposed to be disclosed in the recap with a customer when they sign their agreement. I still dont believe it has to do with the iphone; its just another example as to where verizon did it first.

AT&T and Apple Exclusivity deal isn't up till 2012... yes... then they will... I assume... 🙄

Fine print in contracts tho ... exclusivity for GSM based iphone or altogether? The CDMA iphones are supposidely being made by a different manufacturer, so maybe that has something to do with it. Apple seems to have issues with trying to spin contracts & agreements to work how they want them to - maybe the profits will outweigh the penelties - who knows!

It's doubtful that Apple would build a CDMA iPhone for America (I know, I know, they already have one in the Far East). With Verizon having announced that they're going to LTE, with goals of having their entire network deployed by 2013, CDMA will be even more obscure in the marketplace than it is now.

Apple is about having the latest and greatest. By launching the original EDGE iPhone when they did, they allowed themselves to grow naturally with the GSM evolution (from EDGE to UMTS/HSPA/WCDMA and then, eventually LTE). If Apple launches an iPhone on Verizon's network before LTE is completely rolled out (read: no need for CDMA/EV-DO fallback), they'll have to manufacture a device with two completely separate and incompatible technologies, ...
