Google Announces Android 2.2 Froyo
Google taking shots @ Apple. . .ha, ha this is some funny stuff!
Well, I'm perticularly glad to see that our Motorola Droid is among those that will receive the 2.2 update. How ?LONG? do you think it'll take Vzn?!!!?
Do you think Vzn will disable the wifi tethering?
Also, what is the deal with saving apps2sd??? I thought I read somewhere that was going smooth so far. I didn't see any mention of that in the article.
But I think with Gingerbread you'll see a split. The browser and other things will update a LOT faster than current cycles, but the numbers (aka 2.1, 2.2, etc) will take a lot longer to change. (longer being 8-12 months)
But it's all up in the air at this point.
I was seriously not expecting all of the changes that happened.
Now.. Customers are aware that updates bring new functionality, and if the provider is tardy with the updates, they will find themselves with fewer customers, because up to date software will be a big selling point. And if Android keeps growing, and if phone manufacturers design the ability to easily accept up[dates for say the next three years minimum then the pressure on providers to keep things up to date increases.
Do you agree with what this person said?
up to date software is NOT a selling point. Case and point is the iphone. It is updated once a year, often merely adding features that have been present in other phones for years (hello copy/paste)
What sells a phone are the features present on the device AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE. The problem with most tech people, and thus tech blogs, is that they are used to the apple "everyone on the same page" update scheme, even though Apple (and webOS) are the ONLY platforms doing ...

But I sure am glad we're going to be getting the 2.2 update, I'm just a little cautious about whether Vzn will be cool about wifi tethering, ooooohhh I hope so!!!!

This post, and the video, really reflects a totally different mindset in the Android community Readers here would do well to surf on over to The Iphone Blog Tipb.com and read the sour grapes post by the editor on May 20th, and compare it to the whole tone of AndroidCentral and the above video The jealousy fear and hate that Rene displays of anything Android is just sad. It really is time for Smartphone Experts to start looking for a new editor for TiPb. You neve...

Not a good thing when your earlier topic was "Android phones are only getting 4 hours of battery life" 🤣
If you don't think it's BS, go read Vic Gundotra's uh... visionary quote.
Or did you miss the part of them creating a HTML5 compliant codec for video streaming that DOESN'T require an insane licensing fee?
Or maybe you missed the improvements they've made to Chrome, both on the PC and in android. They know how to Code, but they allow others to do it their own way if they want, (that's why most of their development is for html5, but they still worked with Adobe to bring flash, both to mobile, and to Google TV)
This must be a sad day for you. You're really grasping at straws trying to mock them.
