ok so i work with almost every phone in the industry, and link them to a variety of vehicles on the market today. in my experience, and i dont know why, motorola makes some excellent phones as far as bluetooth connectivity is concerned...but they dropped the ball on the i870.

the phone drops the bluetooth connection, the sound quality is terrible over the lexus system anyway, and overall 100% of my clients have been disappointed with the bluetooth connectivity. to boot, when you make a call from the nav system, the phone takes atleast 10 seconds to actually connect 90% of the time.

that being said, i sincerely hope that motorola releases an update for all of this, or if any of you know any way to make it better, post it on here s...

I should point out that there's a firmware update available at this website address:

http://idenphones.motorola.com/iden/support/software ... »

Click on the R5B.00.04 (Latest version of i870's Firmware) link. Hope this helps.

There may also be a problem witht the type of bluetooth that you were using. Specific models pair better than others. Try a jabra or motorola brand for this handset.

Funny, I have never had any of those problems. My bluetooth headset connects (by connect, I mean the time from opening the boom mic on my HS850 till I can hear something) quickly, with virtually no wait time (about 1 sec....JUST enough to notice it.) The voice quality is clear, and I have only had a problem ONCE with getting a low signal area, and that's because I was outside, which I've heard can happen with many phones.

Bluetooth file transfers also go off without a hitch. I did notice that bluetooth is a little SLOW, but the technology wasn't made for speed, it was made for convienence.

I've been told also that cordless phones and wireless routers can cause excess static in bluetooth....I've never experienced that, and I have 2...

You are indeed fortunate as is my wife.

I have been purchasing and using cell phones for decades and the i870 is the worse phone I have ever used.

I bought 2 of them this past weekend, one for my wife and one for myself and I have been furious each day since. The sound quality is terrible, it reports no service much too frequently, and the bluetooth capability is sporadic at best and always full of static. I truly hate this phone but I needed a Nextel capable phone.

However, the i870 that my wife has, like yours, seems to work flawlessly. Go figure.
