Good time to hold off on upgrading, huh? When are you up for an upgrade? I'm not due until Nov 2011! By then I'm sure Vzn won't even be selling 3G smartphones anymore!

Really? Seriously?

I don't doubt 3G CDMA will be around thru atleast 2014-15.

Even if Verizon started upgrading this year - it will still take years to fully replace their full network.

*AND* what about people that just got a smart-phone this year? Next year? They will have to support those devices for years to come.

I took it to mean smartphones without LTE. Naturally, 3G fallback will be built into phones for years to come just as EV-DO still falls back to 1xRTT today.

How do they not play sloppy seconds...the Palm pre and the Palm Pixi were Sprints first. Just becuase they fixed some issues and added some features doesnt mean they didnt recycle the phones.

What do you call the Droid? Seconds after G1, MyTouch 3G.

Palm Pre/Pixi Plus? Seconds after Sprint.

What phone does Verizon have that's exclusive? The Storm2? Gee... That's one awesome phone 🙄

And pray I ask... what will Verizon be playing if/when they get the iPhone after AT&T?

Verizon doesn't get the hottest phones first... They don't get exclusives. They *ARE* the sloppy second phone company.

Haha exactly my friend. And im not saying that it is a bad thing, because in reality every phone company is going to come out with what is being demanded and/or selling well...
But get your facts straight before you make an erroneous comment.

Not only that but the cameras megapixels is no where close to the Droid, nor is the screen size of either of those ancient Android devices.

And they hit a home run with it. Seriously.. how many people now refer to all android phones as Droid's? not to mention the explosion to the android app market or sales.

Now let's look at the current "high end" android phones:

1. Evo (Sprint.. assuming phone lives to hype, which I think it will)
2. Incredible (verizon)
3. N1 (Tmobile, ATT unsubsidized)
4. Moto Droid (Verizon)
5.? Mytouch 3g or Hero/Eris (Tmobile, Sprint, Verizon)

They might've been slow to the game, but they're a big part of why the OS is mainstream now.

but see if thats the case then the only exclusive OS right now is the Iphone and actully the Kin OS, not many are exclusive out there. so everyone gets sloppy OS seconds.

the Palm Pre/Pixi Plus is...

upgrades to "older" hardware/specs/OS.

Granted... Droid is a much LARGER upgrade to the G1/MyTouch than Pre to Pre Plus... I will give that...

Was more poking fun at the blatant fanboi'ism of previous poster.

They were different specs, different handset makers, different OS, different pretty much everything.

That is like saying the HD2 is just a "sloppy second" to the MotorolaQ since they are both just windows phones

Even if they get an LTE HTC Android device with roughly the same hardware, they won't call it the EVO.

Chances are the first device will have whatever is the fastest processor available at the time.

unfortunately your wrong. 4g is a term used to describe the network and has nothing to do with the phone itself. i mean, i know the incredible is pretty incredible, but its not capable of changing an entire network from 3g to 4g. VZW is expected to realease the 4g network in q4 of this year. 🤣

The Evo runs on Wimax, Verizon is running LTE for their 4g tech.

They will NEVER get the evo because of this

Palm Pre Plus is the same on both networks, with just a different radio.

The Evo and Incredible are WHOLLY DIFFERENT DESIGNS. The Incredible is the Verizon version of the Desire. The Evo is a Android version of an HD2 (upgraded)

The phones are not the same.

That is the closest comparison, but it's like saying "If you want a Hero quality phone, you should get the Dell Aero on ATT"

Yes, they are different manufacturers, but like those two phones, there are enough differences between the Evo and the Incredible that they are NOT the same device.
-Different screen sizes
-Difference sizes
-Different physical button configuration
-the 4g difference,
-HD quality recording on the Evo (compared to DVD quality on incredible
-HDMI out on Evo (tv out on incredible)
-The ability to turn sense OFF on the evo (can't do it easily on incredible)
-Front facing camera on the Evo with video conferencing software. (none on incredible)
-and a whole host of differences I...
