Here you have the two smallest carriers of the big 4(who are struggling for revenue), pushing the two largest ones to get off their butts and into gear with offering faster networks. In all reality, it should be the other way around.

More argument why we need the smaller carriers.

I totally Agree. If they would get up off of their lazy tail and expand and improve their service then they could really dominate the competition. Verizon in particular has so much potential if they would WAKE UP!

Verizon dominating the competition is not a desirable end. I prefer balance. The bigger market-share Verizon obtains the more arrogant they will become and the more their services will cost.

To coin a popular response...

Unbelievable? Where have you been? Old fat-cats never innovate unless forced. Why spend money when you get profits for free?

Innovation *NEVER* happens unless forced.

Look at Microsoft. Internet Explorer.

Very true. But the argument remains. Those that want to see the little guys disappear, forget about that. This is why the Sprints and TMOs are needed. To knock down egos a few pegs. I like Verizon but I think their problem is that they were born with a silver spoon. They didn't build their network from scratch. It was inherited or they just bought other carriers. This can lead to a huge innovation deficit. AT&T is the same.

But the thing is, it really doesn't matter what the smaller companies offer or what they do. The larger companies will still charge more and do what they want to do. Sprint can have it's 4G network and offer one of the lowest plans with everyting included possible. Verizon who has the largest network still charges the highest price for data and minute usage because they have the Largest network. Each day thousands of new services are created with them and coming from the Smaller companies because customers are tired or crappy coverage. It is only a matter of time before it is over for the little guys.

The larger companies have no intentions of offering truly unlimited 4G, but Sprint & Clear are!

People are sick of counting and keeping track of minuts, txts, and measly mb's.

You sound very uneducated.

Sprint has been tested numerous times and always passed with flying colors on network coverage and quality. Now with data speeds out the roof and customer care getting better and better everyday its only matter of time before they start bringing in revenue again. Watch and see.

Lol, remember Apple about to file bankruptcy? remember how Sprint used to have the most subscribers?

don't be foolish to think that its not a revolving door for those who don't sharp. Don't get too ****y to think that Verizon can do what they want and remain on top, no sir, not in real life. 🤣

The mighty fall... and the meek rise.

Again... look at Internet Explorer.

Microsoft rose to the top of Internet Browsing, dominating that particular area. Once dominated, they stopped. Just. Plain. Stopped. Why create a new browser when your the king?

It wasn't until Firefox, Chrome, Safari, etc started eatting market share that IE7 got released... then 8... and soon 9.

IE still dominates... but compition *MADE* Microsoft react.

Sprint used to be king. AT&T/Verizon *ARE* kings.

Things change.

Even if Verizon/AT&T stay #1/2, they will *HAVE* to change in response to the other guys - else they *WILL* loose a customer here... a customer there...

Even if they are still profitable, they risk being less profitable if they s...

"Inherited?" Oh yeah. It was sooooooo easy meshing Bell Atlantic, GTE, Air Touch and Prime Co. together. A snap. My grandmother could have done it in her sleep. The same with Cingular growing from Bell South, Southwestern Bell, Pac Bell and the host of smaller companies that were sewn together to create that entity. Do you people ever read what you are posting? Believe me just absorbing a little peanut carrier is incredibly difficult. Cingular absorbing ATTWS was wondrous. It wasn't easy, believe that. I do not agree with the feds allowing these guys to gobble up smaller carriers, but please don't insult anyone's intelligence by saying it is easy to do.

You should know that I am not in here to insult one's intelect. I'm far too old for that. But I do remember when the Bells segregated, spectrum was practically given away to be swiped by AT&T. Months ago, WiWavelength(wherever he may be), had also given a very articulate discription of AT&T and Verizon's rise to fame. It had mirrored what I had read years ago. Acquiring spectrum and carriers is not easy, but the two largest of the carriers; in a sense, had very wealthy parents. The cards were heavily stacked against the remaining carriers. I wish I had the info readily available to offer. You would find it quite interesting.

This is why everyone should cheer Sprint and T-Mobile on. They are never going to supplant Verizon or AT&T but their mere existence helps keep those two juggernauts in line. Sure AT&T and Verizon consider each other their only true competition, but if that were true in the strictest sense they would run rough shod over consumers (even more so than now with $10 required data plans and the like).
