Of course people prefer hands on experiences before buying something. I didn't have hands on with my Moto Droid prior to buying mine, and neither did the original poster with his Nexus, but those of us on Phone Scoop aren't avg consumers.

It took Andy Rubin a *while* to *understand* that people wanted multitouch on Android also. It seems as though Andy Rubin is slow to learn what people *want*.

Now it would be nice if carriers *!!learned!!* that customers want faster updates of the latest version of Android.

I don't think Andy ever doubted that consumers wanted multi touch. I still think it was part of a gentleman's agreement between google and apple. Since multi touch was pushed the same week steve lashed out against android.

Hmm, interesting point.

Btw, I never heard back from you as to why you think the LG Ally is a low end Android smartphone, I read your post in the LG Ally forum

Lower MP camera, smaller screen, non-snapdragon processor, and the retail on it is cheaper than the EnVTouch

It's not a "cheapie" like that low end phone showed off at CTIA with a retail of under 300, but it's not a high end phone.

I think with Verizon, phones with the "Droid" name will be the flagship phones, and other android phones (Devour, ally, etc) will be the entry level devices. This doesn't mean it's a bad phone, it's just not one for people who want the best of the best. (For example, the Moto Droid has higher specs for the most part than the ally, and it is over 6 months older)

Oh, my mistake. I made such a big deal about you referring to the Ally as a low-end smartphone cause I thought it did have a snapdragon processor. It's still an ok smartphone.

So you've had you Droid like what, 4 months longer than me? Do you have any problems with yours?

On mine, sometimes the shortcut icons on my homescreen get slightly out of place, only way to fix it is to power off and power back on.

No, not really. Only ones I've had were from some bad custom roms.

Here's an example of what I go through with my Droid. Sometimes my homescreen freezes up! I try flicking left, try flicking right, it won't move! I double tap as you said to pull up the preview of all 7 of my homescreens, and they are a blank white! I know no other solution other than to power it off and power it back on.

Have you tried just letting it sit for a bit? 2.1 changed the way it rendered the screens so if you are doing something memory intensive and go back to home it will "lag up"

I found that running the app killer constantly made this WORSE for me. So I only run it now once every three-five days.

Did this pop up when you started using helix launcher? or before? It could be an issue with the app. I haven't used it in a few months.. so that might be it.

Both now and before Heelix. But yeah, Advanced Task Killer is running right now. I will run it less. Can you explain what exactly this Jit Compiler is in Froyo?

Thanks for getting back to me.

JiT will allow non native apps.. things like apps from the app store run a lot faster because the phone will read their code faster.

This will also free up more of the processor for core functions like the OS and dialer etc.

What exactly do you mean by non native? Apps that aren't from the app market?
...

Non-native apps are any apps not part of the core operating system (so native apps would be the phone dialer, the email client, etc)

Non-native apps are everything else.

Is JIT an acronym? There's lots of acronyms in tech.

I get off work in 25 minutes, yippy!!! My mother got me the Avatar Blu-Ray, I'm going to try to watch that when I get home.

JIT stands for Just In Time. I think it makes more sense as an acronym personally.

I am having Hibachi tonight.

Do you happen to know how I can clear the frequently called area under the favorites tab of the phonebook? It's not that simple I tried hitting the menu button to see what menu options there were. I didn't see a clear option.
