Although I've never really lost sleep on when the exclusive deal ends with AT&T...I am glad this has come out in a way. Folks now know...or at least have a gauge on when the rights will end.

But, that doesn't mean that Apple couldn't produce a different phone for Verizon and give it a different name. I wonder if it says anything about the OS in addition to the phone. If it just means that Verizon can't get the iPhone, that's one thing. But could Verizon get a phone by a different name with the same OS?

doesn't seem very apple-y to do that i would think, below their view of themselves to release 2 different types of things.

Not to mention the lol iPad.

They do release multiple versions of something (with a few defining characteristics) I don't think they will out of spite.. but you never know.

The irony is, they could release a crippled version of the iphone for verizon and take very little flak from it because everyone would blame Verizon.

Ugly?

Oh, so you like your electronic devices to be pretty, perhaps even so sexy you want to put your dongle device into them?

I bet you have the pink Blackberry flip phone.

It doesn't make the device any better.

The Ipad would be worth it if it was a macbook touch. as an Ipod XL, it's lacking.

Usually such agreements include an opt-out clause after a certain amount of time has passed. Also the article specifically mentions that it's possible the agreement has been modified since.
