Too bad you're a troll 😲
Agreed. I hate to say it, but throttling is the future. No more 'totally unlimited data!' plans. You'll just have to watch your data, that's all.
Phones (atleast on the other guys) are unlimited, while aircArds have 5g and overages.

This throtling is on aircards... Not phones... Unless I read it wrong.

I think you read it correctly, too...smartphones will simply charge per MB once you've reached your allotment.

They don't on everyone else... sprint vzw AT&T... Phones don't, aircards do.
They don't now. But it's coming. And fast. Or haven't you noticed the havoc being wreaked by unlimited iPhone plans on AT&T's network?
First there would be backlash. Fear. Customers scared of going over their limits. Slowdown of innovation and cool new stuff (like Hulu on smart phones.... VOIP Video Conference calls... etc...)
Second would be competitors. Like say... Spring with unlimited 4G on their AirCards.
AT&T and Verizon talking about it will only go as far as #3 and #4 doing something different and gaining market share.
That's what I hope at least... I mean... what good is Cable/DSL/FIOS ZOOM ZOOM ZOOM!!! speeds with caps? It's counter productive.
AT&T can piss and moan all they want about iPhone usage... but they are still raking in money hand over foot.
I *HOPE* they don't destroy the innovation that's happening. Becaus...

The caps are HUGE though. See, there is no issue with someone using hulu, or youtube, or playing farmville or some game online.. the problem is that a very small % (10 or less) of the users consume over 60% of the companies bandwidth each month, artificially increasing the cost of the internet for EVERYONE so the company can subsidize their usage.
If unlimited data remains on smartphones, it will be the same way. you'll have 10% of the people using most of the available bandwidth, and so in order to keep unlimited truly unlimited, you'll need to continue jacking up the cost for everyone.

Nope. Verizon and Sprint both did twice as much data on their networks in 2009, the "well if the other guys had the iPhone they'd cry too" stuff is sunk. Especially as WiMAX and LTE roll out nationally you'll see this throttling / teired pricing form Verizon and AT&T while Sprint will go on its merry way thanks to all the spectrum they bought up.
