These fashion statements are getting ridiculous! Who needs this kind of stupidity?

The blackberry unparalleled business tools for the win!

Where is blackberry? They are making the same crap they have been for the past couple years. No new cool phone, no new innovations or anything in the same range, power or capability of the iphone or droid. Sorry BB is getting old and as I can see they are nothing better then Palm.
...
Platypus

Apr 15, 2010, 1:29 PM
Tell that to their market share! Comparing them to palm is a way of comment. They are not trying to be all things to all people, it's the most functional tool out there. Does RIM need to up their game with maybe a better browser? Sure but that's about it. Android still small in market share they're no where near BB/ iphone.

I understand that BB has been out for a long time and has played a great role in business services that only the BB can offer with its OS. Android is new to the playing field but it has done a dam good job of climbing to the top.

No doubt Android is blasting its way into the market, and it's super cool. I just don't think the HD2, Evo, Incredible can compete with the pure functionality of Blackberry, not to mention it just seems over kill and not practical.

I do agree that the BB is meant for one thing and its business oriented which is cool because sending and receiving emails on it is a breeze. A lot of the phone snow a days have crazzy apps that are not needed but that is just part of it. It takes a lot now a days to be a smart phone and with the features that are coming out it is good to have a iphone or android to keep up.

Good points I guess I'm just moving slower at keeping up, but geez I just don't know if I want to lug that phone around! 😉 I just have the 8530 on verizon, but with the Commuter Otterbox on it I treat it like a flip phone.

.. I can understand, as an apparent BB owner that you may not SEE the practicality in the functions added by the Android OS. But as a BB owner, and taking full advantages of the uses of my Storm.. I was very happy with the usefulness of the BB's PIN community, seamless email and messaging bliss, media organization and the like.. Photog and facebooker..to the point that I downloaded the Plazmic kit..and experimented with making my own themes.. and do you know why I did that? Because, besides checking emails, clearing FB and bbm alerts and getting a few corny apps.. by BB Storm is booooring.. I would like to be able to ENJOY the piece of technology that I've invested my money in..AND formed a bond with, on some metaphysical, bio-electric techl...

What are you talking about... THE HD2 has Wi-Fi Version(s): 802.11 b,g and Tethering... BBM who cares, you have access to microsoft exchange server emails without the buy up... It is a windows phone so is more compatible with windows based computers. It last a full day so i don't see how battery life is a issue. How is the INTERNET more secure on your BB lol....

Tell the to the millions of BBM users across this country. With Blackberry Messenger you do not pay additional to send to users in other countries and it does not require you to have a text message plan. If you're in business it's a must.

Most companies require a bb plan to have a bb, so yes it actually cost extra. And yes i would tell the millions of BBM users this because they are already shrinking, more people are buying android phones and iphones.

There are apps that allow tethering..but if you are a VZW customer, you are paying for tethering with either devices.. the battery life is partially relative to the user in most cases.. BBM is going to be a sad loss.. until Blackberry becomes and open platform, and there's a "bridge" application developed for messaging.. (Perhaps requiring the pin of your former BB device). That is the beauty of Android that makes it better than ALL of the rest.. as an open development platform.. the PEOPLE..can see an need, and actually DO something about it.. of course, this means you need to know something about developing..or have enough money to pay someone to make your application..but the possibilities are almost infinite..as far as Blackberry securit...

That share will go down. Android has only been around for a little over a year and they were only on one network for the majority of that time. Google will have the largest market share soon enough. It will not take long before people are as fanatical about Google as they are for Apple.

I agree, BB is on the decline right now and the next device they release really needs to be impressive or they may be in trouble. The highlight of BB has always been e-mail, the browser is pretty weak and I hear this from many BB users on a daily basis. Android OS is climbing up the charts fast and I fully support what they are doing in the wireless industry right now.

Maybe for you but not for many people. I cant even log unto my corporate website with my blackberry. My windows mobile and android phones do it without a hitch. Google syncs everything and backs it up for you.

Gtalk is basically BBM (though this is the hardest to give up, I'll give you that)

Blackberry is a great device, but it's hardly above and beyond for most people anymore.

Maybe you can explain this to me. What is so, so special about BB email?!!!? First of all it requires BES on an acct for it to work, whereas you and I don't require anything extra on our accts for push gmail to work, gmail is pushed directly to the device, so I really don't see what differentiates BB email, especially considering it costs more to have BES to get push email

the email is nothing special, it's black berry messenger (like an IM for just blackberry users) that is the hardest to give up. UNless you have a corp account, there is really no additional value in BES/BIS

Jay, I've got a ? for you about the music player. If I click on artist, for example Phil Collins, a drop down appears that says 62 of 1639 songs, but that's it, how can I scroll through only the songs of a specific artists???

Apr 16, 2010, 12:31 AM
I think you have to look by album and not a view all (mixzing allows you to play all from an artist, but you still need to view by album)

You could do a search in the app for the artists name and it will show all the songs done by them though as results.

Do you know of any calender/task/to-do apps that actually have an alarm? Something simple, I don't need to be entering when a task ends, I never understood that about calenders on cell phones, a task ends when it ends! I'm more concerned about when it begins.

Anyway I need a task app that actually has an alarm, any recommendations?

Hey Jay, I need an app recommendation. I tried typing in the app market "mp3 ringtone" but I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for.

I want an app that can help me make a 10-15 second chunk of a song a ringtone. For example I like the song "In Too Deep" by Genesis a lot, extremely biographical. And I would like to make
3:08-3:34 of the song a ringtone. Just that part of the song. Do you know of any apps that can make certain chunks of a song a ringtone in this way?

If not, perhaps you could make one? 😁

Btw, I got a really cool news app called Newsy recently, and it has this cool 3D like interface, you might want to check that out, and what's nice is the apps size is only like 230kb's, so it doesn't take up a lot of memory.

Can you give me a battery % recommendation? I was reading an article about battery life on Android Central, and the guy had 70 right over his battery, next to the clock on top of the screen, I want the same thing! Do you know of such an app that can display the % of battery life remaining right over the battery on the top of the screen?

It's just the speed and what you can see. while opera is nice for browser, the android browser (and any webkit one really) renders pages better, and with sites starting to develop HTML5 web apps, the difference is insane.

Blackberry: Great devices for business users who need all their corporate info synced and secure (though android is catching up). oh, and the best physical keyboards ever invented.

Android: Everything else. From light business users to media consumers.

BBM is hard to give up. but if you see someone with a moto droid (or any other google experience device) check it out. I think you might enjoy just how different they are. my phone previous to the Droid was a Tour so I am familiar with both Operating systems.
