I have had all three iphones and guess what? They suck. I never had as good of signal with any of them as I did with any other phone I used with at&t. When I was in my local Winn Dixie I could call the wife to make sure I got everything she needed with out any problems at all, but with any of the iphones I had none of them EVER had any signal there. I guess what I am saying is the iphone SUCKS. There are much better phones our there people, stop the madness and wake up.

The iphone is a great platform none the less but with a great OS you must have a network to back it up. Where I live Verizon has the best signal and AT&T is not as good, but then again this can differ from location to location. Droid from what I see has got a better signal review, and is coming up in this world.

The DROID is VERY UGLY IMO!!!! I dont know why people like the phone so much...

I agree that signal will vary depending on your area thats why the "Best Carrier" label is very subjective...

I have an iPhone on at&t and never have ANY issues with signal/coverage...

I've also had VZW, TMO, and Sprint... They've all been pretty good here except maybe TMO...

I dont think the look of the phone matters, the operations system Android is a great OS and I think it is on the same level as the iphone.

You must not be on the West Coast, because T-mo & Vzw have the best coverage out here. (That is accourding to the JD power & assoc. report) I have T-mo & VZW, & i would choose them over AT&T & Sprint anyday.

Coverage varies depending on region. AT&T is strongest in the south, midwest, and east coast outside of NYNEX territory. Verizon's network is garbage here (though improved with the Alltel purchase), and T-Mobile was non existent up until a couple years ago.

Though I used AT&T's network in Oregon and didn't have any issues.

If you hate the iPhone so much, why would you get the 2G, 3G, and then 3GS? Someone that has purchased all three phones doesn't sound like someone that doesn't like the phone.

They all look the same to me, I have yet to see the Iphone change its look and to be as old as it is, it is looking really boring.

Well not only do I not like it, last month I went to Verizon and now I have 3g, something I did NOT have with AT&T. Having all three is more the reason not to like it. It just proves that after remaking it three times, Apple still cant get it right. Just like in baseball. Three strikes and your OUT...

So for you to figure this out-

1) You purchased 3 handsets, including the original iPhone which retailed for $400.00-$600.00

2) You paid full price for at least one of the subsequent two handsets.

3) You locked yourself into a contract at least twice (unless you paid full price twice) .

4) AT&T has no 3G where you live but you bought a 3G phone AND pay a premium for 3G service? What? ๐Ÿคจ .

5) You paid an ETF with AT&T (possibly, or a frustrated CSR just gave up having to listen to you on the phone and waived it.)

6) You paid another $200.00 for another handset on another network.

7) "Where, You're, or iPhone" are challenging words. I'm willing to guess an iPhone is pretty challenging for you as well. Why would I no...

Considering the original phone was released for close to 600$ and in 2006
and its 4 years later. Yes, its time to get a new phone already.
4 years in cell phone years is like 75 years in human years.
I'm suprised any first gen iphones are even working still. The battery must be dead 5 minutes after you pull it off the cable.

Now if you had a REAL phone like the Moto DROID,
which although "ugly" as some have put it, has a user replaceable battery so there.

I'd have to agree on that too.
If a phone "sucks" for an individual after purchasing it the first time, why go back and torture yourself 2 more times? ๐Ÿ˜•

same reason countless people buy every iphone even while complaining about ATT?

Some people buy the device soley because it looks cool, even if it doesn't perform a basic function where they need it to.

Kind of like that TV station in california suggesting that people get a Mifi to tether their iphone to so they could get 3g when att's network crashed.

No, there are people who find the iPhone's functionality worth putting up with AT&T's network. (In my case, AT&T's network is a major plus.).

If he's owned all 3 iPhones, that means he's likely blown well over $1,000.00 on hardware alone (not to mention AT&T service.) I'm sorry, I don't buy it.

I'm also calling BS on his reception claims. I can't vouch for every handset in AT&T's lineup but I don't know of any handset they carry that is a noticeable improvement in reception. (I know of many which are noticeably worse.)

I always got better reception on a Blackberry than people around me were getting. It is one of the major reasons I regret leaving BB for an iPhone. It may have just been my luck, but I went through three Blackberry devices and had better luck than those around me on other, usually feature, phones.

I have noticed that also, my DROID and BB have always gotten better coverage than other phones I've seen, even on other networks besides VZW I have noticed same thing with BB. I am glad you have had a positive expirience blue, but up north anywhere in U.S. I have seen many folks with ATT doing the "I'm a tree shuffle" trying to get it to connect to their network, I know its good down south, but sadly verizons IS better Nationally. I wonder what will happen in the fall If they really do get the IPhone, I predict ATT failing or lots of BS lawsuits from ATT, so amusing, and sad, for a while there big red had some competition.

Look iphone fan, I wanted to like the iphne, I really did but the RF was bad, really bad, and AT&T does not have 3g any wear I go. So why pay the $30 data and not have 3g plus put up with the bad RF. I now have a Droid and 3g. If the iphones RF would have been good I might would have stayed with AT&T.

You just stated you owned all 3 iPhones (iphnes ๐Ÿคฃ ) . Why did you upgrade to the iPhone 3G and 3GS if AT&T didn't have 3G where you lived? I agree, that's a really dumb purchase.

I don't know, maybe logic works a little differently out there in glue-sniffin' country.

I think that everyone in this forum has strayed from the point. That apple gives you crappy hardware, sticks you with it, then brings out "New and Improved" versions that look the same, and the first gen buyers get to grab their ankles.

Android brings the updates right to your device.

So... another reason to get Android. Of any of the many types.

1) You mean like keeping the original iPhone running the current OS for 3 years?

2) Since when is Apple hardware 'crappy?' What yardstick are you using?

And "Android Brings the updates right to your device." Only except it isn't? Maybe you missed the fact the HTC Droid Eris, HTC Hero, HTC G1, Sony Ericsson XPeria, Samsung Moment, Motorola Cliq, Motorola Devour, Motorola backflip are all stuck (some permanently) with outdated versions of Android and only one is over a year old.

The one thing Apple has done right is rolling out the new software on older devices. Honestly, if someone is still running the first gen iPhone (and didn't buy it used) it is pretty surprising. Most of the iPhone buyers, especially initially, were people that tend to keep up to date with electronics. It has been long enough to expect Apple to stop supporting the device.

Those with the iPhone 3G are going to get most of the advantages of 4.0. That isn't a bad thing on an older phone- and Apple is bringing it right to the device, with no need to do anything. I'd expect the Hero and Moment users will still be hearing that 2.1 is right around the corner when Apple released 4.0.
