Another chink in Apple's armor

I suppose they couldn't really be expected to support it forever. Still, it should provide some perspective for those who constantly slam the lack of support for Android OS's.

dropping support for a 4 year old device that uses completely different processor architecture is completely different than dropping support for a device because you want to force customers to upgrade to another device.

original iPhone 2G was released on June 29th 2007. I don't understand why everyone is calling it a 4 year old phone....its not even 3 years yet!

Apple should continue to support it.

you do bring up a good point.

I just don't understand all the "4 year old phone" points when many people who purchased iPhone 2G in May 2008 have not even completed their first 2 year contract yet.

I just think that it's unfair for people who paid all that money for the supposed Latest and greatest and they still get the shaft. Steve Jobs just says "Sorry, no." 🤣 That's comedy, glad I'm not one to hop on bandwagons.

True, you would hope it's still supported at least till you're done paying for it! My BB 8330 came out in early 2008 and RIM is still releasing updates.

They have come out with updates for their phones way after they were even sold in retail.

updates are not new OS upgrades. It is one thing to fix a programming defect its another to add another level of productivity.
