If your phone is jailbroken, just get "Kirikae" from Cydia. It's multi tasking that works fine on a 3G. Apple just says it's not compatible with older models so people will go buy new ones. Just like the 2G "can't send or receive MMS". Any jailbroken 2G is cabable of receiving MMS just like a 3G or 3GS can. Apple, like any other company, is just interested in selling more devices, so they're not wanting to release these features for older phones, hoping that people will upgrade their 2G or 3G to at the very least a 3GS.

Totally agreed.

Another great reason that i would never buy an Iphone...

Why should Apple upgrade every single iPhone every created? That's terrible business tactics...No one else does that. Microsoft doesn't send out a new Free OS to all of its users on older platforms. you have to pay for an upgrade or buy a new computer. why should Apple do anything different. You can't run newer platforms on ANY android phone either.

The iphone is a cool phone and all yeah, but hearing about it everyday is getting pretty old. Just sayin...

True enough, but it probably wasn't his choice to have 11 articles on the iPhone fill the entire first page of PhoneScoop. A little perspective would be nice.

Perspective?
Todays is the iphones turn, tomorrow will be something else if there is a big announcement with another platform or manufacturer. It's a once a year deal for apple usually anyway. Thats the perspective people should be looking at it from.
I have seen the same complaints when RIm makes a series of announcements too...its all news that should be told

As annoying as it is, I do get what your saying, it is a once a year thing.

Next month will be Google's turn, their haviing their Google
I/O conference, and it's believed that "FroYo" (Frozen Yogurt) version of Android will be announced. So Google will have it's turn next month. Though there might not be as many announcements by Google cause they don't take as long as Apple to add basic things like multitasking.

Yep, Android is eXploding!!! Marketshare will skyrocket with both the Icredible & Evo coming out. In the long run, the only people who will stay with the Iphone are Apple fanatics/loyalists. But true consumers will be more open minded to Android.

"Apple says that the hardware of those two devices aren't capable of running the new multitasking powers in iPhone OS 4.0."

You can't put Vista or snow leopard on every machine made from day 1 either.
A FAIL would be appropriate if they never offered true multitasking at all

But multitasking does work on the 3g (jailbroken) if some secondary coders can make it work, I bet apple could as well. (I agree about the original iphone though)

Not saying it's a bad move, but it should be interesting. It makes sense for those of us who understand computers/phones. but there are a heck of a lot of iphone users out there who won't get it I'm betting

because their "innovations" are variations... aka copies... of what the competition is doing.

Bad Apple... Bad.

I have heard that same argument on just about any phone out there

Innovate does not carry the same definition as the word invent. To innovate is to improve on something in refreshing and new ways, to find new ways to use, or new uses for things that have already been around.

I'm starting to worry about the level of education of those posting on this board. (not you hawkeye)

Anyone ever heard of the term "doublethink"?

It's double-plus good

innovate is commonly used when a company changes how we perceive something though, not just when they put their own branding to it.

The idea that your phone could be a media powerhouse (two present ideas) was innovative, their implementation of copy/paste might fit here too.. but for example, their "you can make folders" wouldn't be considered innovative, and we'll have to learn more about their brand of multi-tasking before we can call that innovative as well. it sounds a lot like what MS announced with Windowsphone 7.

WernerCD is an iphone owner/user btw

The difference is the proclomations from far and wide about how innovative and original apple is... How they think differently.

iPods don't have fm radios because that makes them better...
iPads don't have cameras because...
iPhones don't multitasking...

It's said of everything, but it can't be true of apple. It just can't be...
