The sad thing is you are upset because this phone was the best BEFORE it had multi tasking, and now you are losing any and all of your reasoning for not getting one!

Anti-Apple trolls are going to be posting everywhere today!

First off, no i am not upset, my last 3 phones can run circles around a iphone ( N96, Palm Pre, and Hero). Number two, i own an ipod touch which is better than having a iphone on At&t's spotty 3g network. Third your just a blind sheep that doesn't see that apple takes old technology and shines it up a little bit and calls it a New OS and sheep like you flock to it because you are week minded and unable to see past the bling. Trust me my sister was just like you until she was upset that she couldn't see the video of my daughters first steps on her iphone in 08 because her phone didn't support picture mail.... but hey guess what in 09 she could!!! LOL sheep.

Why do iPhone owners have to be sheep? Did they not buy what they wanted with their money? Fact is, what smartphone has had multitasking for a longtime? Palm Pre came out in June 09 and the Droid is just getting updates. As for picture mail, did it not take Sprint over 2 years to get that feature onto Windows Mobile & Blackberry devices when everybody elses worked just fine? You can go back and forth about features and phones. I remember when the iPhone first came out, oh it doesn't have stereo bluetooth, oh it doesn't have MMS but people worked around it and still purchased the phone b/c it does just about everything else well and UI was spectacular. The same way Sprint smartphone customers had to email MMS messages to other phones, iPhone ...

They didn't get there net additions because of their network, it was solely the I-phone, everyone knows that. I am sorry i have no respect for the people who think att is greatest, when actually they are not. I am not close minded because i use sprint, i think verizons coverage is great, but they charge to much... Att charges verizon prices for crappier service. And not all iphone users are sheep, but the ones who think its the greatest phone ever are.... Yes its very user friendly and has a great UI, and the Music and Video play back is great; that doesn't make it the greatest phone. It lacked at so many of the basic functions other High end phones have like MMS, video recording, Multitasking, and copy and paste. Yes the finally have these ...

Okay, I see what you are saying about the 4 years about some features but the real indicator of the iPhone is customer experience. It blows the other platforms out of the water. I have seen this first hand, as friends of mine with the device have been so amazed by its usability and functionality that they were able to look past a few shortcomings and are in love with Apple products now. People like to say, people bought the phone just to be hip and for many that might be true but after they used the phone, most cannot give it up.

I will give you that going back to my G1 after the iPhone was a sad experience, but even then i could recognize that Android was brand new and had yet to reach the fine tuning that iPhone has. the Mytouch was just as disappointing, but then with the Nexus they finally got Android right.

That's how I feel. Way back in October of 08 I knew that I wanted an Android smartphone, but I wanted to wait for it to mature more, so in March of 2010 I left ATT because of their deformed retarded Yahoo Android thing called the Backflip and went over to Vzn and got the Moto Droid, I've had it now for over 2wks, and I love the Droid,...INCLUDING the slideout keyboard btw.

you can say the same thing about android, blackberry (seriously, especially if they are coming from a flip)

the iphone user experience was HUGE when it first launched because it was the first really consumer friendly "smartphone" os (I don't think you can consider dumbphones really consumer friendly)

and once you get used to how an OS operates, it is difficult to give it up, unless there is a game changing feature for you that makes you rewilling to relearn how to run a phone. This is nothing new. I was really hesitant to leave bberry for android

hey dumbphones are consumer friendly.. just open the flip up and dial a number just like the good ol housephones..in smartphones specially touch one u need to press the keypad which sometimes could be a bother(to elderlies at least).. i bet, you can test giving a flip phone and a touch screen phone to a less tech savvy person and they could easily make a phonecall on the flip faster than on the touch... i guess the better term would be this smartphon os are more "fun" to use...

This is true, until you factor in that an increasing number of "average consumers" want a heck of a lot more out of their phone than simply making a call (which it's actually really easy on a phone like a droid, because of the huge numbers and voice dial)

They want phones that can text, they want phones that let them snap pictures/take video, if they're under the age of 30 chances are they want access to apps. if they're over 30, they want farmville on their phone (seriously.. thats all my parents care about)

Last month, more people visited FACEBOOK than they did Google. The average consumer isn't one that just wants a "phone just to call and text." though those people still exist. The average consumer wants their phone to do ever...

When did this become a debate about carriers? Like you said yourself, those other phones were doing it before iPhone ever did... and BTW BLACKBERRY has at the very least since the 7100 back in 97 had Multitasking, period. Just because Sprint wanted to complete their 3G network before allowing MMS doesnt make it a bad thing... ATT pushing it out on their crazy spotty network and LYING about how great it is, now that was tragic, but as with everything involving advertising to the SHEEP, it was eaten up. Lastly, Picture Mail was the answer to no MMS, and it didnt take 2 years for that, that was there from release day. Fun Fact: Sprint was the first carrier to launch MMS, then Picture Mail.
