Bluecoyote's amazingly accurate prediction:

iPhone 4.0 will introduce some new feature that an existing handset on the market has but is implemented ridiculously poorly. The iPhone's implementation will be amazingly well thought out and actually useful and solves problems instead of creating new ones. (See Android's craptacular multitasking.)

However, this will not stop individuals stuck on their parent's Verizon/Sprint/Boost Mobile plan from pointing out how their phone "ALREADY HAD THE SAME FEATURE APPPPLEEE$$$$ COPIED IT"

actually they would copy it. The same way apple is suing others for using the touchscreen to unlock the device even if the implementation is NOTHING like the one apple uses.

You can't have it both ways blue, you can't have apple "constantly innovating on things already in the market." and yet if anyone does the same with apple's implementations (ala touchscreen unlock) they are just "copying" since apple thought of it first.

So which is it blue: Are companies allowed to use the ideas of others for innovation or arn't they?

You could have all the fanboys in the audience "spanking" to every word that comes out of Steve's mouth.

Keep the kool-aid flowing.

There's a difference between taking an existing feature on the market and creating a fresh, well thought out implementation of it, an simply copying that new implementation.

E.G.

On-screen keyboards existed before the iPhone. They were also terrible (think Pocket PC.) Apple developed a new on-screen keyboard with sophisticated software heuristics. What Apple did was industry innovation.

HTC saw what Apple did and copied it as best they could, coming up with an inferior but "close enough" version. What HTC did is not industry innovation.

Pretty clear, isn't it?

What are you talking about, how do explain copy and paste and picture mail? Each company does the same thing the copy what someone else did and try and make it better. Your just blinded by Steve Jobs. He is a cult leader not a CEO lol. But seriously do you see Sony suing other companies for using blue ray now.

I can't understand how *ANYONE* can follow *ANY* specific company like they taught Jesus what was what.

This goes for *ANY* company... MS, Google, Sony, Samsung... Apple...

There are no companies that I won't turn my back on if they go against what I want or like. They provide a service, and if it's good enough and consistent enough I will support them...

The blind love that you seem to have for one company and one man is just... sickening. And it's honestly no small part of why so many people hate Apple.

Even if they do make good products (and copy then improve just like everyone else)... Even if their products are "innovations" (and not just simply solid improvements over what everyone else did)...

nothing Apple does is *TH...

I've been pretty clear on this: I'm a good product fanboy. It's not a mystery.

Apple's got a lot of them if you've noticed. I'd say Apple's batting average is pretty damn good compared to Sony's, Samsung's, even Google's. (You likely will never find an Apple phone on the market with a bunch of mis-spelled state names or glitchy keyboards or broken predictive text or broken web browsers.)

I'll put it this way too- by most metrics Apple's got the best OS for both desktop and mobile devices, the best hardware and industrial design, and pools in some of the most talented developers. (Maybe you've noticed Tweetie is an iPhone app and not an Android app!) Oh yeah, and created products that work as advertised instead of padding spec sheets w...

Apple has always had solid products - good OS sure... but has *ALWAYS* fallen short because of who they are as a company.

Anyone who says the iPhone or OSX isn't a good product is lying.

The problem is the company.

Its the *EXACT* same reason I don't buy Sony. Good products, Ass of a company.

To say that Android or Palm aren't comparable is blind. Even with their deficiencies, they match very well against Apples crap as well.

Even without solid copy/paste (only a patch away... a mantra good enough for Apple fan-bos) - smaller app count (even tho all the important stuff is taken care of) - in some cases even lesser specs...

Even with some cons for the "other guys", it's still all about there pro's. Customization, replaceable...

The very problem is that all this stuff that makes life 'better' doesn't.

User-replaceable batteries? That isn't an issue on the iPhone- there are so many innovative mobile charging solutions it's insane. However it's been a huge problem for Android handsets.

Same with Multitasking. It's supposed to make life better, but most Android handset users end up having to download a 3rd party memory manager, and I know from Sprint reps it's pretty common that some of them interfere with vital phone functions.

It's even worse on WinMo- on some handsets it takes 7 taps to get to the task manager just to kill unnecessary apps so that the device doesn't lag horribly. Totally inexcusable and useless to boot. My Mogul couldn't ...

YOU think that these options aren't important. Googles growing market share begs to differ. Not sure where Palm and Win7 will be by the end of the year, but people who choose THOSE options as well will most likely beg to differ.

Again... the problem boils down to the fact that Apple "likes to server a burger" of only one flavor.

You want a chicken sandwich? A BLT? A grilled cheese? too freakin bad! The "Chef" says your stupid for wanting those on the menu!

Apple has been successful simply because the built a good phone, their marketing was grade A and the competition took longer than needed to update their product AND aren't as good marketing vs 1m rabit fan-boys (like yourself).

Apple also has better apps, atm, because they have...
