I also think after like a 90 or so day exclusive cdma roll out, Sprint probably will get the iphone as well. And don't forget, cdma carriers in other countries like Mexico, Latin America and the Caribbean, I would say Canada but those cdma carriers went hsdpa+ for their 3g.

What happens if I happen to bring in a foreign CDMA phone then? With a GSM, you pop in the SIM and your golden (Assuming the right bands are used on the phone)...

For the most part, no, you can't. Yes there are some odd cases where both have allowed outside phones on their networks, but its a rare. And even so, for the most part, you will get the voice to work for calls.

Huh? CDMA does not work like GSM. If the MEID is not loaded in the carrier in question's database the phone cannot be activated. Period. *Shrug* I guess you thought it was as simple as flipping a SIM chip in.

I sell contracts for Sprint, Verizon and AT&T and never once thoubht about it before someone mentioned that earlier today.

Or R-UIM cards, but they will never go down that path. Too much loss of control.

Yeah, I think China Unicom was running a GSM AND CDMA network at one point and their phones had both. It would be cool if Sprint and Verizon used R-UIMs but seriously. Verizon is allowing GV and Android. Let's not push them too far...
