The Shame

The
  • three
  • four reasons I choose Windows Mobile over the others is these:

    Multitasking
    Memory Card Installation
    Open and Customizable Platform
    Supports Windows CE Apps

    So... tech specs:

Does not support older Windows Mobile Apps
Is as locked down as an iPhone
    No Memory Card Support
    No Multitasking

Looks like I will ride out my WM 6.5 Phone(s) as long as possible, then jump to Android.

    Dammit Microsoft!

    1. Multitasking on WinMo is horrendous right now. There isn't even an efficient way to switch between running apps without installing a 3rd party app switcher (aka battery drain.) All it really does in its current state is keep things hogging idle system processes and eat up battery life. Beyond background playback for apps like Pandora, WinMo's current multitasking arrangement offers zero advantage over the iPhone's system with 3rd party apps. Zilch. Nada.

    2. What would you rather have - 8GB+ to install applications on, or 256MB to install applications on?

1: iPhone doesn't really have multitask and it annoys me a lot. I can't jump between certain 3rd party apps without having to reconnect them. Also, HTC has a rather efficient Task Manager that allows you to close Apps by holding the X on the corner, and can provide you a quick list of running apps from a drop down menu on the same corner, allowing you to switch or close, right from the desktop. Also, the only problems with Multitask sucking come from either crappy programs or from the phone being inadequately RAMmed.

2: Currently Windows Mobile allows you to Install and Run Apps on your Memory Card. There is no excuse for abandoning that one option that WM has had since the dawn of the PDA Dinosaurs.

You seriously think a Win7 phone would ship with 256mb card? Honestly?

iPhones came with up to 32GB.
Palms come with 16GB (Maybe more, haven't checked).

Neither phone has issues, unless you download the entire internet.

While alot of the news will probably turn me off of Win7, the fact that they have a built in hard drive... I could care either way.

The only gripe I'd have is replacement. But I could also gripe about SD being another point of failure. *Shrug*

Android is limited to 512MB system memory- half of which is taken up by the OS. Even with a 16GB card, you can only have 256MB of Applications.
