I like MicroSD cards...

I can think of a lot of really useful reasons for having removable micro SD cards. It allows swapping and sharing of music, videos, pictures real easy. No need for a PC with custom software to get the content off of your phone--your own content.

No need to worry about running out of space since you have as much space as you have memory cards. No ability for specialized apps (like Garmin XT) for this device. I have no use for a phone restricted like this.

1. Most phones allow for a "USB Mode" (e.g. Palm Pre) where you can plug it in and just drag things over to it.

2. Who carries around multiple memory cards? Nobody.

3) Who would honestly want an application that runs exclusively off of a memory card? Oh.. can't listen to my mp3's... need to run the Garmin software. CRAP, my IM software was on there too. Etc. etc.

Just because you don't have multiple memory cards doesn't mean that others don't. USB mode is only good if you can plug it into a computer. If you ever wanted to get pictures printed out, you can just take any number of stores and insert the micoSD and get them printed out.

Also, there are other uses for microSD as it is being trialed by VISA for NFC payments. I guess you only see your way to do things...which is fine for you...but it might not be fine for everyone.

With microSD having 16GB per card you are not limited by what the manufacturer decides to give you. But it is Microsoft's decision but that doesn't mean it is the best decision for all use cases.

You're aware that you can also just upload them and print wirelessly with most new kiosks? And also use the USB cable if it supports pictbridge?

That functionality isn't lost with the lack of the MicroSD card. What is gained is the fact that it's one less contact point of failure, one less variable for devices (see Android's problem), and one less volume to accommodate for developers.

Those are all 3 major wins.

Reality check for you, my friend...

WinPho7 will NOT support USB mass storage mode, either.

Don't worry, I'm sure bluecoyote will soon explain why lack of USB is actually good for application developers.

Neither does the iPhone but it doesn't seem to be a problem printing pictures.

1. You are wrong. The so-called "USB mode" does not exist. You have to have dedicated sync software installed on a PC or laptop to actually transfer files, etc. Palm Pre requires that Palm Desktop is used for syncing.

2. Wrong again. A lot of professionals carry assorted storage media with them.

3. Essential applications, the ones a person uses every day, are installed on the phone. The applications not used frequently can be installed on a card.

And lack of multitasking makes the Windows 7 phone useless to many people, consumers and professionals alike.

on a blackberry you dont necessarily need media manager you can just drag and drop.

This is the way of the future where we all have storage lockers tied to our accounts no more cards or whatever.

1. Palm Pre does indeed have a USB mode- I sync all of my contacts with it wirelessly as well- no sync software is installed on my Mac.

2. You're wrong, or you're a liar. NO professional I deal with carriers around MicroSD cards. Maybe thumb drives- none carry MicroSD cards.

3. What OS now even allows for apps to be installed on a card? What possible benefit does running apps off of a card have- it's only a substitute for when your device lacks a proper amount of memory.

And I know and deal with plenty of professionals who carry micro SD and SD cards with them, as well as USB flash drives. So what do you have to say? Or care to drop the argument?

Because they carry more than 32 GB of information of course!
