Nokia Looking for Dismissal of Apple Suit
Nokia is a pathetic excuse for a phone company
Grasping at straws much, Nokia?
"revisionist history, misleading characterizations, unsupported allegations and flawed and contradictory legal theories to turn these fruitless negotiations into a multi-count federal lawsuit."
Number of good Nokia phones nowadays: 0
Number of class leading Nokia smartphones produced in the past 4 years: 0 .
They're an irrelevant company. The sooner they die the better.
Yes Blue, you say this everytime there is a post about Nokia and/or Apple. We get it. And Nokia is far from irrelevant. Head to Europe, you'll get a far different picture of the smartphone landscape. Play with an N900. It will make your Palm Pre or whatever it is you have look like a kid's toy. That beast can run full desktop Linux apps. Ridonkulous!
does it have MMS? lol i think you used to make cheeky comments about the iPhone not having it and here is Nokia in the same boat.
Finally last I checked the Ovi store had ~50 apps for the N900 and most of those are made by Nokia.
Sure Nokia can make a phone look good on the spec sheet but when it boils down to it they are still playing the "next time it will be even better" game they have been playing since the n95.
Last but not least- it has virtually no 3G support for the US. Good luck...

It can run full desktop Linux Apps? Awesome. Can it run them well? Of course not. I can't think of a less relevant metric for a phone than running a bunch of crappy Linux apps half-assedly designed for a screen with twice the dimensions.
You have to look at the n900 from 2 different perspectives: hardware and software
Hardware-- Mostly pros here
1) Very solid device - would take a few falls and not break
2) Excellent 5.0mpx Camera with Great Video Recording [ WVGA 848 x 480@25fps]
3) Decent Battery Life
4) TV out -- I've never seen another manufacturer with this feauture and its cool and useful.
5) Reception is great -- exactly what you would expect from a Nokia device
Software -- Some Pro's and Cons here
Maemo : I like the ability ...

Your forgetting about the N95! Fck'g awesome phone!!! I even use mine as a wifi hotspot! I love my N95.
But I will admit that Nokia does have a whole lotta catching up to do.
* I'm waiting for a suitable Android 2.1 (or newer) replacement.*
In addition to all the above, symbian OS had the ability to run many application before most cellphone users new what apps were. On top of all that, it was great phone, had a long battery, and was easilt pocketable.
Sure now its old, but that doesn't take anything away from. Nokia has some catching up to do and I don't like symbian on a touch device, but that doesn't make ...

Sidenote: sometime this year I do intend on getting an Android smartphone. It's only march though, I'm monitoring the market right now.
The 5800, however, was the nail in the coffin for Nokia.
I almost never use the native web browser on my N95. A majority of the time I use Opera Mini. The native browser does suck, it frinkin double loads webpages, it'll load some, and then the scrren will go blank and then it'll start loading all over again all of a sudden, stupid web browser, I don't know what that's all about!

Nokia's filing reads like a Keith Olbermann rant.
Only to you, because you can't read big words apparently (like "characterizations").

All it needs is a reference that Apple is "The Worst Company in The World."
But here's my challenge for you: if Nokia smartphones are good, name one new meaningful, relevant advancement they've brought to the table. In fact, name a single initiative that hasn't been a critical AND commercial failure. (let's start with NGage, move to Ovi, and then Comes with Music....)
You're upset because S60, once the crown jewel of the smartphone world b...

I was going to make the Gravatar Kosh.. but I'm too long winded to be a Vorlon
Haha, yes, even with the short post, you are still too long winded to be a Vorlon... 🤣

Well, all I've seen you say is that Nokia is the worst company in the world... you, my friend, are the only Keith Olbermann rant going on here...

Easy... NGage was a huge hit when the original NGage phones came out in Europe, and to this day the NGage gaming platform...

Let's start with NGage. NGage got a tepid response when it came out despite being a solid device for the time. Sales were well below expectations, and look no further than developer support it has compared to say, the iPhone. The only way you could say the NGage was a success is if your only other metric was the Tapwave Zodiac. Nokia tried to save face by incorporating it into their platform..... and that too has failed and is being discontinued. (Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N-Gage )
Well, we'll just have to agree to disagree on that one, regardless of what Wikipedia users say...
After all, NGage is getting old.

S80 was nice, but Nokia abandoned it. S60 and S80 were amazing OS's... in 2004. Nokia dragged their feet with S60 development, and Maemo isn't even on the radar (and it brings practically nothing new to the table.)
So now it's 2010. Nokia has practically no competitive advantage over Apple, RIM, Palm, or Android. That leaves them in no position other than to play patent troll.
And if you think you're going to stop me from buying another Nokia, you're also not succeeding, although Apple might succeed in doing that for you...
Why not save your fanaticism for things that matter. Save the whales, fight crime, join the church or whatever. Trust me Apple and the iPhone don't deserve the veneration they get. Steve Jobs will never be nominated for sainthood. At the end of the day they are just another money grubbing corporation out to get into your pocket.
Phones don't do well in this market unless they are available on a carrier. The Iphone wouldn't have nearly the numbers it does if you could only get it unlocked and unsubsidized through apple.

There are two things I hate- crappy phones, and long winded replies by people who don't know what they're talking about.
And yet you are forced to read what your write before you post it... that must be hard.
based on that alone you're opinion of a "high-end" device is completely bunk!!!

I think its funny how you talk about how great nokia is when the next device you want runs a 369 MHz ARM11 CPU and a 2.4" QVGA resolution screen. LOLZ
Nokia has much better phones now than the E75, but I'm not buying it to have the latest and greatest. I'm going to buy it because I'll be able to do it affordably when I'm ready. I don't ever buy the newest phones because I like to see that they are tested and tried before they ever get into my hands. I probably won't go for a S60 5th Edition phone until 2012 or so. And just because something is old does not mean it doesn't work well.
Nokia makes good stable phones for the most part, and 369 MHz is plenty fast for my needs. I have not...

Your links to articles that show a weakness of the iPhone were totally ignored.
Also ignored is the reality that S60 has been the most powerful OS for wireless until recently.
Please name the said article in response that demonstrates the weakness of the iPhone in regards to S60, mr. "fanboy." And since when have I ignored that S60 was once a powerful OS? The key difference is 'recently' - S60 was surpassed by Blackberry in 2007, then the iPhone, then Android, and now Palm. It's been 3 years.
This is the problem, rather than find a cogent argument or dialogue it's easier for you to label someone as a "fanboy."
Granted, you may delude yourself into believing that buying that ipod now makes you an expert on apple, but you seriously need to examine apple as a company for the past 25 years to fully understand them. I have been using apple computers probably longer than you have been alive. Based on your completely ignorant posts, I would peg you at 23, 25 tops. It would not surprise me to hear a rebuttal from you that you are 17.
Seriously, get a clue. Learn how businesses are run. Learn history.
And for the love of go...

First off, Nokia does have significant IP in its arsenal, but you're confusing what's licensed by Nokia and what's licensed by the GSM trade group. (Or see it this way- Apple has a lot of IP related to media (e.g. MPEG 4) that isn't licensed by Apple but the trade group they are a part of) Nokia's patent suit is an attempt to license Apple's UI elements in exchange for some useless Nokia patents. If you want to know why Nokia wants Apple's UI elements, look as to how they've advanced on that front. Nokia 5800- need I say more? And Apple's been making mobile devices for a pretty long time.
You're bringing up age? Is your argument that weak? I can tell you I'm well familiar with App...
