As opposed to any other touchscreen phone? Really, there isn't a lot of leeway in design once the screen gets to a certain size. Other than rounded vs. square corners and color, how much are any of these physically different?

you can say the same thing as the cliq or any andriod phone with a keyboard. google went a long way in shadowing/incorporating the iphone OS into android so there will be ovious similiarities. and crood is right there really isnt alot you can do with a touch screen phone in terms of design, motorola is trying to think outside the box which may be good or bad depending on how its percieved

I think there may be a misconception here. Yes, Google has emulated Apple, but not the iPhone. Apple was the pioneer of widgets back in the 90's. Those widgets helped to customize your Mac experience with such silly things are clocks that counted down to the next Harry Potter book, reminders to feed the cat, or in some cases even up to date server information.
You could interact with those widgets without opening them because they were already open. This is what the android OS allows you to do. The iPhone however does not. There is no customization (other than moving icons), there is no utilization without opening.
Now I am not downing the iPhone, its capabilities raised the bar for phones everywhere, but to say Android emulated the iPhone...

well on JB iphones there are customization, true not out of the box but its still possible. and there are multitasking on iphone once it is JB and with few apps (actually kinda fun on the iphones i've had) so in a way android (google) out of the gate did iphone OS (apple) should of when it first came out so android 1.5 and its previous incarnations could be likend to the 3g iphone in its capabilities in a way but didnt take many "generations" to get it done. But google did have time to "perfect" its OS out the gate while watchin apples mistakes and learning from them. I personally think we should go back to the old nokia 5120 pre-symbian OS to be safe lol JK JK JK 🤣
