You do realize that there are still a lot of people out there who just want a nice, basic phone just like this one, right?

If he did realize that, he'd have made a rational, thoughtful comment.

True. But what are the odds that someone like that will be on Phonescoop? Anyone irritated at the data requirement for Multimedia phones is going to gripe until Verizon releases some full QWERTY 1x handsets. Are we waiting until hell freezes over?

Believe it or not...many of us non-tech people actually do research. I know nothing about data requirements of phones. However, I am on Phone Scoop because I am looking for a good basic phone. If you have any recommendations, they would be appreciated 🤨

I'm tired of paying for features on my droid that work when Verizon wants them too. Going back to old school and just getting a phone.

What I'm paying a month is like an ETF every month.

Just got one of these off eBay $99.00 bucks.

I love multi-media phones and Android phones and so do most of my friends but there are also people who want just a basic phone for talking on. At least Verizon gives people a good choice on high-tech devices and low-tech devices. Companies like AT&T are so big on their multimedia devices that there aren't a good selection for everybody.

Even though I'm an Android guy I'm glad Verizon keeps releasing basic flip phones. And they don't require a data plan.

Yeah, I know 25mb's is the same thing as nothing! I call forced plans "articial profit" because it's not profit from a service a customer explicity said they want, so it is artificial profit that a business made up rather than a customer ACTUALLY ASKING for it.

Nobody's putting a gun to their heads and forcing them to buy phones that require data packages. Problem is, too many people want to look cool and trendy, so they buy phones that they have no intention of using properly.

It isn't up to ANYBODY to dictate to someone who paid for a phone with their own money what a "proper" way to use it is.

It's up to the person who $PAID$ for the phone to determine the proper use, no one else.

this phone doesn't require data (it also seems to have a more advanced photo suite.. maybe a sign to come of more advanced software on dumbphones?)

25mb is actually quite a bit for some users. it's crap on something like the rogue/envytouch or on a smartphone, but for someone who just wants quick access to email/weather/sports scores it's actually a decent amount.

Don't get me wrong, I DO NOT agree with mandatory data on phones like the ENV3, but at the same time, if you want an argument to be effective, you have to know which areas to use it in. This phone is not one of them

so Menno, your the one who was in the industry, not me. For somebody who checks sports scores and yahoo mail you really think 25mb's is sufficient?

Me on the other hand, I go to all sorts of tech sites, news sites.

You also have a phone with a decent browser. Believe me Jay, these phones are not capable of that much when it comes to browsing.

They display things Text only generally. (at least flip phones) or if they have images they are very low resolution. 25megs, for someone who just wants the weather, and maybe email during the week, should be fine
