Microsoft to Announce Windows Mobile 7 On Feb. 15
The answer to.... "what makes Android look like a well organized platform"
Microsoft has two options-
1) Start clean ala WebOS (sounds like what they're doing) - except they have zero developer support left. I mean honestly, they're going to be fighting for whoever doesn't want to develop for the iPhone, WebOS, Blackberry, S60, and Android. Way to enter a half-over marathon.
2) Slap on another layer of pig lipstick.
Let's hope if nothing else they at least add in a decent web browser (highly unlikely, Windows 7 doesn't even get one) decent media player (likely), sy...

For example, WMWifiRouter. Every single WinMo device I've had since the HTC 6800 has been a walking WiFi hotspot for my laptop or PMP. Never had to pay any extra monthly fees for it. And the built in and unlockable Internet Sharing is useful as well. Both are free of charge.
WMTorrent, I can Bit Torrent straight onto my device. May not seem useful but if a friend tells me about a new band...say... Steel Panther and how I need to listen to it I can have a full CD in my hands in a matter of 20 minutes. And if my phone is going to sit on a charger all night and I pay for unlimited data, may as well take advantage of that.

From what I've been reading the HD2 will be the first phone to get Winmo 7. I've heard it might even come at launch at the end of March. Which makes sense if Microsoft shows off a finished version. We will see should be sweet.
Is it really easy tethering with WinMo?
Checkout PPCGeeks or XDA-dev for the downloads. Also a ton of free stuff at Freewareppc
Where is the RegEditor located in WimMo, you said carriers hide the internet sharing. How I will be tethering is usb cable. Samsung Blackjack 2 doesn't have wifi.
So PM me, and in the msg, just include your Phone Scoop username, so I know who it is.
Thanks for the help, and again, it's the Samsung Blackjack 2.
Same goes for BitTorrent. Direct. Violation. Not a question about it.
But let's talk about the things Windows mobile doesn't have- decent social networking apps, decent attachment support, let alone an email client that works. I'd place those all a little higher than a BitTorrent client I agreed not to run when I signed up for service. Hell, there isn't an IM application I would even rely on. Do you honestly mean to tell me AgileMessenger is as good as BeeJive?
Honest question...

That's downright ridiculous. I could argue that the strength of the iPhone is how easy it is to jailbreak (which gives it 10x the functionality of your Mogul at the expense of making it only twice as reliable.) .
regardless, i'm *extremely* excited about winmo 7 🙂
And if the discussion is "this phone is capable of _____ without use of Jailbreaks, roots, or ROM rewrites" and your argument is "But that's not within the TOS!" then you're obviously unable to understand the original statement. This discussion is about the utility of an OS, not a carriers contracts.
My statement still remains that it is extremely usable, multifunctional, and people have created software for the phone that you cannot find on any other platform, even if you "hacked" (misnomer) another phone. These programs are easily downloaded to the phone, installed on the phone, wi...

I guarantee a lot more people use tethering, even if against TOS, than one would assume. People who frequent this site, and others similar in nature (Gizmodo, Techcrunch, etc.) who are capable of figuring out how, do.
On to more pressing matters of why you need to be on Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, Tumblr, MSN, AIM, ICQ, Yahoo! and Gmail messengers all at once apparently. I text and email a ton. I don't have a whole lot of time for checking out who is dating who. Social Networking is the opiate of the masses anymore. WinMo isn't made for social networking. 7 may prove to lean in that direction, but I wouldn't recommend a teen get one of these phones, someone with a bit of nerd in 'em will want WinMo because they're fun to mess with.
EAS with mobil...

Obviously your standards aren't too high- MS Office support is a joke, as is Outlook (which still has issues with IMAP servers in 20 friggin 10) You may not be a teen, you may just be a business that uses Facebook or Twitter- the likelihood is a lot higher than anyone listening to Steel Panther.
Have you noticed how much better a 20 page PDF, presentation, or expense report displays on an iPhone? You should sometime- maybe open up the task manager and kill off the media player to compensate for the limited RAM on the Mogul and watch as the iPhone navigates...

Yes the Iphone has set standards in the multimedia facet of phones. I never said that point didn't exist, infact that's not even what I was talking about.
As far as "janky" I'd have to disagree, if you've got the right versions of DivX, WMP or Kinoma, you're golden. I don't have to convert my video formats over. My Pre does a better job of rendering, but overall I'd say I like the TP2 better because of screen size, which is unrelated to Windows so it's a moot point.
After my company switched from Lotus Notes to Outlook I prefer Outlook because of the compatibility with EAS. Once our IT department got everythin...

Anyways.
The Apps for social networking on the Iphone, the Pre, and Android smoke the heck out of WinMo (even newer dumbphones do a better job). I don't ever use them though, so the point of view I have is....they're pointless to me. I have no doubt they're leaning towards a more social network friendly phone, just as Palm did. It'll be the first thing on my delete list as well.
