If I understand this correctly, it is essentially old-school, finger-based "Graffiti" like Palm devices used 8 years ago?

not really. There is a keyboard that you basically swipe your finger from letter to letter that you want to use, and then the software sees what words could be made and writes it. If there are multiple words, it gives you up to 6 options.

you don't actually draw the letters themselves

Yep. You don't need to root your droid to install it, you just need to find the .apk (hard because anyone that posts it gets a terse letter from Swype to take it down)

Yeah, I have a rooted mytouch just haven't really looked at it yet. really liking the HTC keyboard right now.

I liked the HTC too, but with the resolution of the Droid, the HTC one is blurry since it is at a lower resolution than my screen.

I really like swype for texting, but not for browsing.. if I could set it to switch automatically, I would be golden.

I can see that. I was intrigued by the technology though. Didn't like the idea of using it with the stylus.

Right, this is why I didn't like the keyboard on the Omnia II. Think it works much better on a capacitive screen.
