Still a pretty high ETF total. Could be why sales weren't so huge; plus, no advertising and confusing support in the beginning.

This phone is great though. I'd recommend it to anyone. I've used it on att (no 3G) but the processor really helps, and it get decent reception out here, not in a major city.

I wish Google luck because I think if they succeed they will lower prices when they have a mass following.

Idk, google just reminds me of the company that is like GOD. I don't mean to offend any church goers or anything but I mean that by saying its like this company that just exploded into every market share and gained a significant amount of that share in every market. Most companies that blow up like this usually tends to be hated or leave people scared that something is not right but with Google everyone loves them and its like they can't do wrong even when they do wrong.

Its like nobody is afraid that every search query is saved and saved with the IP address and username and this info is NEVER DELTED. No one cares. But people were all down at&t's throat when their name was affiliated with the government about phone taps and etc.

It wi...

Well Google has turned into a sort of unfocused mess with little clear direction. They've had a lot of success building platforms with GMail, Advertising, Maps, Google Earth, even Sketchup. Then they've got projects that mean well but aren't exactly living up to their potential, like YouTube, Chrome, Docs, Picasa, etc. Then they've got their "why did they bother projects" like the original Google Video, Google Gears, Google Wave, and pretty much their entire smartphone effort.

They've brought a lot of new ideas and relevance to the internet, but their desire to expand seems to be outpacing their actual vision.

Google is buying their way into mainstream use. People are buying android simply because it is there and being marketed heavily. Consumers are only hearing of two products. Apple and Android. Personally, I have no use for Android. It may be a nice muti-media platform, but for business, I find it useless. I patiently await WinMo 7.

I use my DROID for everything and find it to be one of the best devices out there in every use, to say that their smartphone effort is a "why bother" is pretty ignorant.

Oh I don't think you would find me ignorant at all Mr. Xanadul. But rather opinionated and selective of what I use for business. WinMo is far more directed for business than Media. Just as Android is to the opposite. That doesn't mean neither can't be used for each. But what the OS is better designed for. The passion for Android on your part, should not constitute a sacrifice on mine or my experience with both.

Ok, in what way is winmo directed towards business? The same could be said for BB but really all they bring to the table is secure servers, and winmo is awful for security. I guess I just dont understand how anyone can classify any device as a "business device" when in reality nearly all smartphones can handle most if not all the applications you would want to use for business.

I found that at my age that if your going to chill with the younger Gen, you might as well talk their smack.

I am just getting so tired of Android fans trying to shove the OS down peoples throats. Windows has been exceptional for me and our business and I am not willing to sacrifice the very useful WinMo Excel for a farting app.

That is just a very stacked comment. You do know that WinMo (though I own and use an HTC Touch Pro myself) is a rapidly failing market. Something you need to accept is that Android is a rapidly expanding market and for every one new WinMo phone it feels like two new Andriod devices are released.

Yes. I am quite aware of WinMo's current events. However, my point is this: I own the HTC TP2. Most reps don't know much about the device. Then factor in the loss of knowledge of WinMo. The campaign for WinMo is severely degraded. I know many colleagues persuaded into buying Android by Media lover reps, only to revert back to WinMo. The lack of knowledge for what WinMo can actually do, is quite sickening.

Android will undoubtedly become the mainstream OS. But as long as WinMo exists, I will be there to support it. Even with it's faults, it is solid, dependable and proven. And the Multi-tasking is still second to none. It is amazing that when I demo my TP2, jaws drop. " I didn't know windows could do that" is a common response. Well yeah,...

Now don't get me wrong, I love having Office on my Touch Pro, but to even get 6.5 on my device I basically have to hack it because Microsoft won't support an upgrade for it. And truth be told, it has taken Microsoft way to long to really bring something new and worth more of my money to the table. I actually am of the market that likes a usefull app or widget to make mobile life easier, and Google has given us a fully open-source marketplace that keeps getting bigger by the minute. The Windows devices even that they are releasing are just becoming unimpressive spec wise compared to some of the newer Android devices.
Unfortunately, it also seems that Windows 7 might not have multi-tasking in it so they can stay competitive with the iPhone. ...

If Google sits still or if they take a wrong direction they could easily be passed up by another company, they need to the top internet website to remain the Google we know today.

Is that not counting the Nexus One ad to my right as I type this, or the fact it was featured on Google's home page?

I think he meant TV advertising like the airtime the LG Chocolate got from Verizon at one point. Is Best Buy even selling this phone? Really this phone is under the radar.

Only Google's online store is selling the phone right now. I wouldn't call it under the radar, I mean the phone is geared towards the techie nerd/geek crowd and unsurprisingly, they are the only ones buying the thing. Point is, if you don't know about this device, you probably shouldn't buy it anyway. It's not like Google is hard up for cash or anything.

If T-Mobile and Google want to subsidize the device to attract new techie customers, that's just business. But, you still have the option to buy it unlocked. The heavy etf is obviously just so the idiots out there don't buy it and sell it on eBay for profit. I see absolutely nothing wrong with it.

? about using an unlocked/unbranded Android device on ATT.
I've been using an unlocked/unbranded Nokia N95 on ATT for over 2yrs, and the mms & internet settings were easy, the phone just automaticly got the settings from the network.

How was the experience with an
unlocked/unbranded Android smartphone getting mms &
internet working on ATT's network?
