Even with being separate technologies, Sprint could be a logical adaption. The Sprint/Nextel fiasco was a mess due to old leadership and misguided integration planning. I think the current state of Sprint could make two different technologies work together but as separate entities meaning choice. The merge would also create better competition for VZW and ATT making a far better competitive edge for the industry. I would love to see 3 closely numbered subscriber based carriers as opposed to two.

"I think the current state of Sprint could make two different technologies work together but as separate entities meaning choice."---They kinda already do in iDEN and CDMA; this would make 3 by adding GSM into the mix. To make that merger work would require adoption of a single technology and neither company has the capital for that right now.
