WoW! That's quite the memory you've got there! I didn't get my first cell phone til January of 2002, so I don't quite go back as far as Voicestream.

Ah the late 90's: MCI Wireless, Pacibic Bell Wireless, Cellular One, GTE, Sprint, VoiceStream. Dual-mode, tri-bad, dual-band, CDMA, TDMA, GSM... but I digress...

Got my first cellular phone in 1999 from GTE. It later became Verizon.

I didn't get my first cellphone until March 2002, and that was with Verizon Wireless. I remember all the cellphone companies that originated in the Chicago market in the late 90's to today.

Ameritech Cellular (B Side) - acquired by GTE in 1999 after SBC was forced to divest the wireless side when they acquired Ameritech (I miss Ameritech as they were the better phone company. Never tried the wireless service) Eventually Bell Atlantic acquired GTE to form Verizon Wireless. (CDMA service)

Cellular One (A Side) - Supposedly part of SBC Mobile. I only knew them as Cellular One, and later Cingular. SBC already owne...
