For some Google is enough. For others it is not. I have used both and I can personally say I like the VZ Nav better than Google Navigator right now.

Google's Nav is ok, if you want to get directed the wrong way up a one way street.
Googles Nav sucks! I know, because I tried it!

I've been really impressed by it on the Nexus One. It was extremely accurate. It could even tell when I was in the local vs. express lanes and tell me to get in the correct lane. The timing of the prompts was perfect. It even worked well downtown on the small city blocks of Philly, among between tall buildings. Granted, I didn't do extensive testing, but I was impressed.

I am glad it works in your area, because it is terrible in the SF bay area. Googles hometown, might I add. I would still choose Telenav or VZ Nav over Google Nav any day of the week. I will pay the $9.99 for correct info, rather than go with a bad free nav.

Jesus Christ! If you don't want to pay $10 a month, don't use VZ Navigator feature/service on your phone. Use other means/devices for navigating. Why is it that people want to knock on Verizon so much? Don't want to pay for something - don't use it then! It's a simple concept!!! People are ****ing dumb!!!

VZ Navigator has always been $10 a month. It's not something new that verizon has just started. Yeah Google maps is great and all, but the VZ Nav really is worth the price to alot of people. Plus it's not like you have to subscribe to the $10 a month option. If you only need to use it every once in awhile there is a per-day fee which is only $3 for unlimited use for 24 hours which is perfect for most people.

And just like evrodude said, if you dont want to pay the fee, dont use the product.

Since a data plan is not required to use VZ Navaigator it is a good deal for those with simple feature phones.

I don't think VZW offers that anymore. It wasn't an option on my Env Touch, only gave me the $10 option. 😡

The $3 per-day fee is still available. always has been. The news story even states that at the bottom.

Are you kidding me? Here's a device which tells you where you are, and how to get anywhere else. And you're bitching about $10/month for that?

Tell you what - I'll agree with you, if you want to pay $30/month for unlimited data then it seems like navigator should come with it, just like the google stuff.

Someone is going to go "I can just buy a gps unit and it's free", but that always leaves out that you have to periodically buy new maps for it to keep up to date.

I could but the charge for someone without a data plan. But if you're paying $30.00/mo for data, it should include all of the data features of the phone. This is one place Sprint has it right- get the everything data plan and the navigation, tv, radio, etc are all included.
