I think this is what AT&T should be doing with its money. They should resist the temptation to run off and build 3G towers in North Dakota and instead shore up their metropolitan area which are over-taxed by bandwidth hogging subscribers. Great move, AT&T! You guys are finally making sense.

The way I see it, the only good way to deal with increasing data usage is to get that traffic onto the wired backbone as quickly as possible, so adding ethernet to the cell sites is a good choice. They should also make it easy to switch over to their WiFi hotspsots whenever possible.

the Slappies here are getting boring.. everyone assumes T has no plans and is flying by the seat of their pants.. The truth is-
They picked up a ton of markets from divested VZW and Alltel. Almost all of North Dakota (along with a ton of other markets no one lives in) will go 3g this year under project Zodiac.
