I currently pay $75 a month for 1st generation iphone.

I would like to see if I could beat the cost in one year by using an iPad (skype) as a phone instead of paying my AT&T cell phone bill each month.

3G iPad Costs:
$629 16 gig 3G iPad
$29.99 12 months($359.8😎 Unlimited Data

$988.00 a year.

I would then need to purchase US to US skype telephone number for $50 a year.(this would allow anyone to call you and allow you to make US calls)

988 + 50 =1038 a year

Now, I currently pay $75 a month for a 1st Generation iPhone 700 minute plan.

This plan cost me $900 a year.

The iPad will cost me $138 more a year.

However, having a 3G connecting device will allow me with the extra perk of being able to search the web...

I think that more information has to come out in order to validate your assumptions. For instance, you can't currently get unlimited data on ATT for anything close to $30 unless you also have a voice plan. While it would be great if true, I don't think we can conclude that $30 would be the total monthly charge. It may be, but I don't think we know that for certain yet (kind of like tethering on the iphone, which was announced with a ship date, which came and went ages ago).

"MY assumptions?" Are you replying to the correct person? Well, since you replied to me, let me respond...

So...yes. The unlimited data plan on the ipad IS $29.99. Did you think he just pulled that price out of his *Bleep* or something? I am not going to speculate on where you were Wednesday, but to pop off like that without knowing the facts is unforgivable.

Those are just links to keynote recaps. I watched the keynote also. I think you'll agree that 'keynote language' and 'contractual language' are two entirely different things. I would love it to turn out as Steve presented it, and it certainly may turn out that way. I'd jump on it in a heartbeat. I'm just not counting on it at this moment, two months in advance. After all, no one is (legally) tethering from their iphone, and that was promised as well.

Okay. I guess you are right. Can't believe anything Jobs says or that Engadget, BGR or PhoneScoop report. *sigh*

I just came from a training class at ATT corp.
Big wigs there said 30.00 unlimited. No joke. 😁
