for thinking that this should have had Snow Leopard and a microSD slot? I am missing the point but I simply just don't get it here. Was is this thing supposed to be? An Amazon Kindle killer? An oversized iPod Touch? You have to use applications from iTunes catalog right? You cant use normal applications like MS Word or Excel or anything?? No flash either? I'm so lost here. ☹️

A few things...

1) What good is a MicroSD slot?

2) There's an adapter for regular SD cards and camera hookups. I think a full SD card slot would've been ideal for photographers on the go but the adapter is better than nothing.

3) The frameworks the iPod Touch / iPhone use are the same Cocoa frameworks OSX uses. They're based off of the iPhone/iTouch UI, but if you watch the demos a lot of new UI frameworks are introduced with the iPad, and just about every single application shown in the demo was WAY above your average iPhone app.

4) What do you mean like "Normal Applications?" They demoed Apple's office suite (Pages & Keynote) and even did photo masking in Pages!

5) Flash needs to die. I know it's good for games, but for ...

I would have rather had a tablet that runs Snow Leopard but thats just me. No multitasking definately sucks and no camera? I know it's not a phone but give me a break here. Flash dying is just unrealistic. I agree with the sentiment though.

Dude... you can't honestly say you weren't underwhelmed when they announced this.

I was expecting a LOT more from apple. This is nothing more than an ipod touch for fat fingers. I want a macbook touch

Actually I was impressed with a lot of it, especially watching the demo of Brushes and of Pages and Keynote. Did you see the demos of the apps? A lot of them go well above and beyond what an iPod Touch is capable of running.

If you want a Macbook Touch, buy a Modbook. Do you know how well those sell? Horribly, because the touch novelty wears off quickly if the interface isn't designed for it.

It's not designed for it because apple didn't design it that way. if they MADE a touchscreen mac, it would work. (modbooks are also quite a bit more than their normal macbook cousins.. this was supposed to be a netbook-killer where it's more like a kindle/fat ipod.

Yes, pages and keynote were nice... but.. No usb for backup? no optical drive? (any kinda removable memory could serve here).

No camera? (video conferencing, photo booth) no ilife?

Heck, the fact that the thing as a 1ghz processor and they STILL won't allow it to multi-task (I don't know about you, but when I'm typing or surfing the internet, I LOVE pandora playing).

They could just pop a USB port on there and it would then be a truly unlocked device. Work ou...

Well I'm typing this on a $300.00 Netbook. Although it's far from a terrible machine, quite honestly, it does nothing terribly well. Google Chrome (an absolute necessity as every other browser is too slow or wastes too much space) makes web browsing decent, but the screen is cramped despite its size. Oh yeah, I can run the full suite of Windows software, but most of it isn't optimized at all for the screen- even Microsoft's included Live Messenger (which required a substantial 174MB update of the Windows Live suite before I could use it) has setup dialogs run off the screen and it can't even be configured unless you guess the key codes.

It's got a miserable little touch pad, it's awkward to type on due to its weighting. The kicker? It t...

everything you said was true. however one thing needs to be noted here. if all that you were wanting from this device we actually included you'd be paying 1200+ for it. Even hipsters have a hard time choking down that price for a novelty.
