Apple Announces iPad
Apple isn't abandoning AT&T afterall?
I think it's also awesome that there's no contract and the iPad is priced so low.
I liked the name iSlate a lot more...
Somebody probably jumped the gun and tied up the Slate concept.....and Apple is worried about getting sued...
Like it or not, AT&T's the only game in town willing to play ball with outside-of-the-box pricing models. T-Mobile does to some extent, but their network coverage is dismal (and if you think AT&T has issues....) .

It seems like the negative press from AT&T hasn't hurt Apple's relationship with the company. Although they could still announce and iPhone for Verizon, I think it's cool Apple is still giving love to AT&T.
I agree.
Big Red was too arrogant and wanted too much control at the time Apple offered the iphone to them. AT&T may have it's problems but at least they dont have like their $hit dont stink like Verizon does.
Plus, who in the hell is to say the iPhone wouldn't have suffered the same woes on Verizon's network. Please. 🙄 The coverage would have been better sure but the network issues would still exist
Still, I wonder why everyone was so convinced the iPhone was going to Verizon this year. I mean, folks were pretty much sure it was happening. I've never heard so many rumors from so many sources...but then nothing at all...

Well, the year isn't over exactly, but they are saying exclusivity is over in may/june.
We'll see, who knows.
It will be interesting to see if and when the new iPad will add more troubles to AT&T's overloaded network.

Very true. Unlimited data for $30...no contract. Imagine the data problems AT&T has now. Wow.
I am glad I left them when I did. When I had them, I had problems with call quality even though I did not have an iPhone. Data hogs affect everyone on the network.
Plus, I don't think everyone in the world is going out for that tablet. It's kind of a niche device. An awesome device, but not for everyone.

AT&T's network isn't overloaded, just in a few markets they don't have the backhaul capacity to handle the traffic due to concentration and other regulations. In most parts of the country where they have 3G coverage (which has doubled in the past month FYI) their network is blazing.
Well I hope they keep going in that direction. Meanwhile, in my area I get better coverage for less money per month so I am not coming back to AT&T. I wish them luck.
