They had said 100Mbps data a month or so ago, but a voice call at this rate is fantastic progress.

Other highlights. LG to Nokia components talking are good. Class 3 LTE Modems to be available later this year!

Of note: real world LTE is around 42 - 48 Mpbs. Still awesome!

All in all we are heading in the right direction.

Don't forget Cisco/Linksys has a satellite router tested and working, plus TerreStar has a GSM/Satellite phone running WinMo(data speeds to be determined). 4G in space will be fantastic, but data from space at great speeds is probably a 5G technology.

I just think it's sad that 3G never did reach it's anywhere close to it's potential. Real world/end user speeds of even half of 7.2 were realized. Before reaching its limit, HSPA is capable of 42mbps. And not even a quarter of that has been achieved.

I don't realistly expect anything above 12-15mbps in the next 2yrs. I'm of course referring to real world/end user speeds not stupid theoretical and in a lab.

Agreed. But like you said, real world speeds now are lucky to reach 4 mbps. So we are still increasing that over 300 percent. So for starting out 4G, I will take it.
