Nokia Freeing Ovi Maps to All GPS Phones

In March 2010, all new GPS enabled smartphones will have built-in turn by turn directions. No need for a data plan to use GPS navigation. Easy to use across various countries. This is really a great thing and will bolster Nokia sales.

They did this cause Google is offering a free version of it's Google Maps that includes free turn by turn directions.

What about the E71? I would really like to find out when it will be available for the E71.

This was on the Nokia web site, "Until today, Navigation has been kept in the hands of the few. Today that changes." Do they know that there are other GPS devices other than their OVI?

Did Google make it's navigation available for all of it's older andriod phones? They might release it for the E71 or they might not but it's really nice to have...and you can have the whole world in your phone and in many different languages. I really like this because no need for a data plan like google...and AT&T is charging $30/month or $360 for smartphone data.

Unless i missed something... you will still need internet just like google maps.

You are missing something. It can store the maps on a memory card. So you don't need a cellular data connection to navigate with turn by turn directions. You can download all the maps for all the countries they have. Really easy.
