Ok Im gonna keep this as brief as possible. Both Verizon and Att have got to be nuts these prices are still ridiculous 70 for unlimited TALK and thats it. Come on already Im not saying the name beacause im not advertising but im using a prepaid provider hmm mmm cough cough under a certain network with a great phone and have unlimited talk text and like 200pics for 40 bucks. When are the contract carriers really gonna wake up. I mean when I heard an announcement was comming I really expected something better then this and they wanna charge data on the nokia twist and other phones so stupid!!! att;s own go phone service is cheaper for 60 they have unlimited talk and messaging what the heck????

prepaid phones have a limited coverage area, and they are lower priority compared to contract phones.
prepaid customer service is also nowhere near what it is with contract providers.
...
I have Nationwide coverage best service ever even better then Tmobiles coverage!
...
MennoJan 15, 2010, 6:32 PM
being better than tmobile's coverage isn't saying much
...
well im satisfied man even Sprints deal is better then this 69 includes data and any mobile
...
Cricket has 70% less coverage than T-Mobile for voice coverage.Verizon's coverage makes them both look pitiful.
...
Exactly I have the coverage of verizon without paying verizons price
...
What do you mean prepaid phones have limited coverage, ATT prepaid phones work off the same exact towers that contract phone do.
And they have lower priority compared to contract phones, are you saying that if I make a phone call, and if a prepaid customer make a phone call and we are on the same cell tower, that a tower wouldn't let a prepaid customer make that phone call, cause I'm a post paid customer? Is that what your saying?
...
MennoJan 15, 2010, 6:37 PM
they don't have any roaming agreements.
and yes, I am saying that if you were on that tower using a phone and say browsing the web, the prepaid customer would get a lower priority than the post paid customer. SO if the network became strained, the prepaid customer would be cut off.
We used to see it all the time with an MNVO around here.
...
Isn't a phone from ATT even though it's prepaid, different than a phone from an MVNO, I mean that I can understand because it's not the MVNO's native network, but if it's an ATT prepaid phone, and it's ATT's cell tower is their native network.
...

eh.. not from what I've seen. maybe they changed it. But big cell companies have always tended to treat prepay customers as second class citizens. Trust me, if ATT could offer unlimited text and data on a contract phone for 60 a month they would, just because it would give them an edge (for however long it took verizon to match).
...
With reguards to this if ATT did this stuff. ATT or any other carrier could do anything that want, they just don't because of greed, it all boils down to greed. If they don't HAVE to do something because another carrier doesn't do it, then they don't.
I'm really curious how much the wireless landscape is going to change between now and say the end of 2012, beginning of 2013, I just have a feeling a whole, whole lot is going to change.
...
MennoJan 15, 2010, 6:57 PM
Check out my "what next" thread in the verizon forums. I think a lot is going to change too.
I think plans will shift from voice with data features to data with voice features.
...
Ok I will, but right now I'm just having trouble keeping up weith this topic, it's a really hot discussion that I've been getting a whole lot of responses on, but I'll check it out, the words "what's next" definetly aren't hard to remember. I'm always into "what's next" topics.
...
Jay, look at att's coverage viewer. you can see that gophone does have less coverage.
...
yeah, it sucks that Metro & Cricket are forcing more, and more competition on the market, it really does.
...
The company im with has even better service then metro or Cricket its nationwide better then tmobiles coverage even
...
Well...what company is that?
...
MennoJan 15, 2010, 6:37 PM
It's either Page Plus or straight talk
...
neither of which is very national, or at least available here in Las Vegas, what about you Menno, are either of those carriers available in your part of Pa?
...
Hey works for me if it is to each there own right.
...
Page Plus or Straight Talk probably.
...
Neither of which could be that national, I live in Vegas, neither of those companies are here. You live in what, Alabama?
...
MennoJan 15, 2010, 6:58 PM
they are there, they just don't advertise. they're prepaid
...
Im not gonna get kicked off for advertising and im not an employee Ill make that clear lets just say there initials are PP and theres plenty of other providers like them heck even Sprint has better deals
...
MennoJan 15, 2010, 6:52 PM
lol.. I love it how you are trying to be secretive.. everyone knows who page plus is dude (or they can easily google it)
...
🙄
Oh brother! Page Plus! I've been hyping them for months. I have no vested interest in the company.
...
MennoJan 15, 2010, 6:38 PM
Competition is a great thing, but metro and cricket arn't big enough to make changes, yet.
...
Any idea as to how many of the two combined companies customers amount to? Even 20 million? Heck, I would think that the way the economy is, that a whole, whole lot of people out there would be leaving the big 4 to get these unlimited voice & txt plans for $40/mo.
...
exactly more should they dont know what there missing!
...
MennoJan 15, 2010, 6:56 PM

Cricket i.e. Leap is up for sale.

Its logical they do, they already work with each other. And I think they tried a few years back. I'm not a fan of either but they do serve a section of the market. If you rarely travel, don't need a fancy phone, just voice and text. It fits that need.
...
Yeah well, I need a very, very fancy phone!!! Especially Google Maps, and I hear that some, even most of their phones Google Maps doesn't work. YiKes, life without Google Maps, that's tough!!!!
