Verizon Wireless Revamps Voice, Text and Data Plans
Sprint plans still blows verizon out of the water...
this is straight outa sprints terms and conditions.
"Roaming- The term "roaming" typically refers to coverage on another carrierâ┚¬â”žÂ¢s network that we may make available to you based on our agreements with other carriers. These agreements may change from time to time and roaming coverage is subject to change. Your ability to receive roaming coverage depends on the radio transmissions your Device can pick up and the availability of roaming coverage. We make no guaranty that roaming coverage will be available. Roaming coverage may exist both within and outside our network coverage areas. Your Device will generally indicate when you're roaming. Depending ...

Terms and Condition Reminder Say: [customer name], A recent review of your account, phone number , indicated an unusually large amount of voice roaming use over a three month period. We want to make sure you are aware of the terms & conditions of your Sprint Subscriber agreement:
Off-Network Roaming on Sprint Phones: Sprint may terminate service if (1) mort than 800 minutes, (2) a majority of minutes, or (3) a majority of kilobytes in a given month are used while roaming
Continue to next call flow step, Roaming Behavior.
And no i don't work for sprint but i know people who do.
Sprint will not include the SIDs for Verizon where they deem they have overlapping coverage. And, without those SIDs in your phone you cannot connect to the network in that area.
I'm not saying there aren't ways around it, but don't expect things to last that way. I remember when Verizon changed their coverage maps and removed the areas where customers would get billed for roaming. The roaming agreements they had with certain companies were being dissolved and the latest *228 would update the phone to remove those SIDs. If someone used a computer ...

This is a very common misconception. It's the same as saying since T-Mo and AT&T use GSM that you'll get all of AT&Ts coverage if you're with T-Mo since they also have roaming agreements. No.

Sprint does not neg SIDs. They allow you to roam on any carrier that offers coverage (using CDMA of course). Sometimes you will be greeted with a message saying you have to pay for the call if you end up on Cricket or Metro. 911 calls still go through when on one of those systems. They are not like Verizon where they neg...

The only way Sprint restricts where you can and can not roam is by not including the roam only mode on new phones.
Did you read the last part of my post?
So, basically Sprint would have to be dumb enough to load in all of Verizon's SIDs in overlapping areas, mark them as priority and allow the phones to force roaming on (all 3, not just 1).
I stated that they would need the phones to allow force roaming. And you just said the new phones don't include roam only mode. At that point having an SID doesn't matter. It'll hang onto the Sprint signal (no matter how terrible it is) vs a better signal through ANY other carrier.
So they need their plans to be as cheap as possible to hopefully keep people with them.
I dont agree with all these changes with VZW, but people popping up and saying "but it's still more expensive than X don't get it. If price was all that mattered, Sprint would be the largest carrier in the country (tmobile lacks raw coverage to get this) There are other things to compete on instead of price. Do I want costs to do down? Heck yes! But expecting a company that is ADDING customers to price match a company that is losing them is asking a bit much
I really like Tmobile's pricing strategy, and I hope it catches on. But Cell companies are all about new activations and adding revenue. A company like verizon won't take something from a smaller carrier unless it proves to be very profitable
You have nailed a detail of Sprint's overall network status. It is much better than people give them credit for. They were number one once. However, there is that old expression: You never have a second chance to make a first impression. Sprint shot themselves in the foot causing a bad taste in people's mouths(including myself). But as I wrote in another post, There is no better time to try a company than when they are trying ...

I was mainly replying to the people who said that verizon should drop their prices to match sprints just because they were cheaper. Verizon's VERY good at increasing the perceived value of their service. Price isn't what they are marketing on, and it's not the sole deciding factor for most people (otherwise we would all have Tracfone LOLOL)
Sprint sucks near me (it's practically all voice only roaming) and since all my family is verizon, it's still cheaper for me to stick with them than switch to another carrier. I think sprint is a decent company now... I think they should advertise more on the quality of their service instead of how cheap it is, but it's their marketing dol...
