Still expensive... and the complete opposite as to what T-Mobile is doing.
T-Mobile sees the light. With them... if you choose not to get subsidized phones and skip the contract you pay LESS because they don't have to cover the cost of the phone.
With Verizon, they are going to charge you MORE for not signing a contract. What the hell?

They aren't referring to the same thing. VZW prepaid means their normal prepaid option. (like virgin mobile style) If you were to buy a handset they use on their contract plans, and go month-to-month, it would be the same price as the contracted plans, not more expensive.
Still not as good as t-mo's pricing scheme though.

What I think is funny is that they actually reduced their prices of many of their plans and are giving prepaid people more and better options....and yet you guys are still complaining....150 for unlimited text and talk on two phones? sign me up yesterday, and yes the added data.....did you know that most people that buy those devices use enough internet to make the 10$ package worth it? So why is this a negative, I'm assuming you guys dont know what verizon had before, it was a lot more expensive before this.

In someways you're correct, you're correct if you need unlimited minutes, but if you don't, and don't use data at all, or if you have a previous all you can eat data plan at half this new cost, this could be substantial raise in costs.
Honestly it almost looks like a shell game.

Lowering the Unlimited price point is a no brainer as Verizon allows Google Voice with Friends and Family anyway.

Tmobile and Sprint must resort to even more agressive pricing than Verizon because the coverage isnt on the same level. Whats bizarre is that ATT feels perfectly comfortable charging Verizon Rates and mirroring Verizon's plans to such a degree while offering inferior coverage. Didn't the recent Consumer Reports rate them in last place in EVERY city they surveyed? Man. That iphone atones for a lotta sins in the eyes of consumers.

Actually.. unless I am missing something, those prepaid ammounts are the final costs, so they are actually CHEAPER than contract plans because of taxes and surcharges
