The Biggest question is why is the ETF or ERF or what ever, more then the cost of the phone?

Thats the only thing I'm concerned about. I understand everybody talking about if you don't want it blah blah blah.

I ain't trying to hear all that. I'm worried about why when you add up these ERF/ETF is it more then the Phone?

Because if you cancel between 15 and 180 days (varies by the carrier), the carrier will both charge you an ETF _and_ stiff the carrier on their commission. Thus, the dealer has to charge you for the phone so they don't lose a few hundred dollars.

The reason you get screwed is because the carrier demands an ETF from the customer during that period, even though they don't pay the phone subsidy.

I don't know how they get away with this, or why the FCC is so worried about the exact amount of the carrier's ETF when there is essentially a double-billing scam going on.

Thats the word I was looking for...

There is no other logical answer to this adding up to be more then the price of the phone unsubsidized.

If people don't like it, keep the contract or buy it unlocked to begin with. Seriously, why do ppl cry so much over nothing?

If the carrier is paying the dealer commissions then that is their rationale for the ETF, I suppose. I think this stinks. People should just buck up and buy phones at full retail.

because the carrier (tmob) charges an early termination fee of $200 for out of buyers remorse fee... the equipment manfacturer charges their own fee, that tmob is not responsible for, because obviously that has nothign to do with tmobile. google and htc came to tmobile and asked them to support their phone. so there fore any issues with the device or charges for the device would go through htc and google.

Get a clue guy.

The charges are fair and easily laid out. If you don't like it, DONT GET THE PHONE!!! Or pay full retail.

Why is this an issue at all. Its a common practice in wireless and makes sense why you READ why its necessary.
