Apparently, there's been a lot of finger pointing in the support area. HTC sends you to Tmobile, Tmobile sends you to Google, and Google tells you to send them an email and they'll get back to you in 2 days.
It's funny that Google had so much input into the phone design and 3G connectivity, which is critical, wasn't adequately tested.
It seems to me, they're not really equipped for the retail market.
...
Can't believe T-Mobile is still in business. First the sidekick issues that are still goin on and now this. Just par for this horrible company.
...
how is it T-Mobiles fault that HTC the creators of the phone, cant provide them with a properly working device?

Sprint (billing, CS)

"I thought that the only 'horrible' companies that people complained about were:

actually check the latest customer satisfaction reports, AT&T is dead last now for CS.
but all in all, any company the size of the big 4 cell providers has ticked off somebody along the way; it's just inevatable. some seem to do it more often then others.
...
true, and i think sprint is either 1st or 2nd. they fired more habeebs and hired more janets and steves. thank god for the gulf coast and their low minimum wages, because now i get someone that actually speaks english.
...
LOL Ocean Springs, Mississippi!

A paper weight? Come on now, first off the phone still works without 3g. If you have any exp. with Android phones you will notice there isnt much of a difference between edge and 3g.
This is the first phone really handled through Google, did you really think there would be no problems? I assume this isn't your first electronic device you have ever bought right?*End Sarcasim*

What I'm curious about is why he paid $586 for the Nexus One, when it's $529.
...
I don't know if theres any tax on Google's internet order of the Nexus One, but I do know Google doesn't charge for shipping.

Try & keep up here Jay! No Google does not charge for shipping - STANDARD SHIPPING - he chose to expedite his order by PAYING the additional $50 for Overnight shipping, which apparently did not include a Saturday delivery.
...
I'm sure Google gave him a tracking #, and all he had to do was go to FedEx's website, and get a delivery date.
I'd be sure to call and give instructions, cause a lot of delivery companies are
dumbf*cks and leave packages in the publics eye!
...
they gave me a tracking # but it didnt post till after the 15 minutes Google gave me to cancel the order expired. actually the tracking didnt post till later on that night.
...
Taxes, shipping, and handling maybe? đ
...

Sales Tax. I'm guessing he's in CA.
...
I'm in Chicago. high taxes. âšī¸
...
i paid $586 with shipping and handling included. the phone WAS $529 until checkout đ FML again
...
What the heck does "FML" stand for? And I thought Google doesn't charge for shipping?
...
lol, he is a noob. did you not pick up on that? and who pays retail anyway?
...
Whose a noob? Not the original poster. He's been around since 06.
...
@Jayshmay: thanks..
@ELLS2187: I pay retail for phones. Why? because I can, and I have have the funds to do so. besides the fact that i dont like being being stuck with two year contracts. NOOB
...
I hate contracts too, I believe in business earning customers, not binding them. My last 2 phones have been unlocked/unbranded, Nokia N95 and Sharp V903. The whole wireless industry is screwed up with their stupid, stupid contracts.
...
thats about when i started readin PS too. i didnt make an account until recently.

actually smarty pants, i am a phone addict. i've had the G1, Mytouch and iphone all within the past 12 months. I understand that this is Google's first handset, but it's also 2010 so cell phone makers, companies, and corporations should have their things together. no excuses.
I understand that the phone works well without the 3g, but i'm paying for 3g web NOT EDGE.. gonna have to sniff out a credit of some sort for this.. seriously WTF? I guess I'll just take advantage of the WIFI in the mean time..
...
Yes it's Google's first phone but not HTC's first Android device. đ˛
Hope the VZW version is better at launch.
...
Hey Andy, I'm curious, am I the only person on here who doesn't know what "FML" means in the subject?
...
Oohh!!! I'm ok with acronyms, but I'm not *that* good! Just yesterday I saw "tbh" in a post, and at first I wasn't too sure what it meant, but then I thought "Ah!" it means "to be honest" So sometimes I can figure it out and sometimes I can't.
Thanks for explaining.
...
Thanks for that. I would never have guessed.
...
Oh, so I wasn't the only one who didn't know. We sure do live in an acronym-filled world.

well then your the idiot who keeps spending so much money on phones, you have nobody to blame but yourself for being such a moron.
...
Nobody asked for your input. But thanks for being mature and considerate.
...
?why? did you pay $586? The phone cost $529.
...
Taxes and shipping. Illinois Taxes are pretty high.... and FedEx charges an arm and a leg for "OVERNIGHT"... I purchased my phone Friday, and I was expecting it Saturday (because i was charged 50 some dollars for shipping). Apparently my $50 dollar shipping fee wasnt enough fr them to deliver it on saturday.
FML again.
...
fedex does not deliver on weekends for overnight shipping. only monday-friday. Stupid, I know. it is aggravating to me too.
...
good thing is if they're 60 seconds late than the estimated delivery time, they refund your delivery fee.. *crosses fingers* i have yet to recieve my device and it's expected to be delivered at my front door by 3:00pm central time.
...
Did it make it on time?
...
hahaha yes, it was 30 minutes early actually. glad someone was home to sign for my device.
BTW, the 3G seems to work fine. it's kinda patchy, but it works.
...
Yeah, I live in AZ and I think my phone has had a 3g connection the whole time.. Im going to consider myself lucky (knock on wood)

Here's a bit of too-late advice: you should've waited for a review of the phone on Tmob's service. Hell, it might have been a bit cheaper by then, too.

Just because a phone can't get to 3g doesn't make it a paperweight (though it is really annoying).
If it is a software update, expect a fix really soon. If it is a hardware issue, submit for a warranty exchange.
and to the people making fun of him jumping the gun.. it happens. Heck, I got the droid at launch even being wholly skeptical of motorola. Part of the "fun" of having a new toy is being one of the first ones with it.
...
heck yea, the whole fun of me getting it was being the first to have it. the anxiety of having to wait for the "phenom" phone. works fine, I've never had any issues with T-Mobile or HTC. battery is great! but when i read about the 3G issues on the Nexus the price began to make me reconsider the purchase. when I got home I played with it and I noticed that i did have 3g service on it. not everywhere, but at least in the main places that i need it to work. if it worked everywhere, i'd never put it down hahaha.
here's to all you nay sayers đ¤Ŗ
and to all you who backed me up thanks đ

Glad it's working for you! I love my droid, and can't wait for 2.1 on it.
Heck, I'd consider the Nexus One (once they get their enterprise version.. gotta have the keys) with Tmobile if I lived down at my old place still... This is only because they still have a Data only plan, and you can get a skype number set up with it (and google voice for texting, and to give as your phone number)
But I live north now, so Verizon it is. Pricey, but worth it IMO because of where I live.
You'll need to let us know how the thing works batterywise, and what you think of the OS in general. Is this your first Android? if so, what did you come from?
If it is your first android, I HIGHLY suggest these apps:
Advanced Task Killer (or somet...

well I live in Chicago, so we get pretty good coverage here. and to answer your questions, the battery life seems to be good. I'll post you later on that because this will be the first full day that i use it. and no this is not the 1st android device that i've owned. I've had the G1, and the Mytouch. I already have Advanced Task killer and Pandora on my device. but I'm considering uninstalling Pandora because I never use it. i really dont have a need for HandcentSMS or Meridian Noble.
I like WikiTunes, Twidroid, AP Mobile, the Better Keyboard apps. check them out.
...
You're right, its totally tmobiles fault that googles phone will stay connected to 3g. Maybe you should go somewhere else and pay twice as much for a droid or iphone đ
...
how about you stop complaining about the issue with coverage on your NON-TMOBILE phone, and buy a t-mobile phone so youd be guaranteed coverage!
Just like i tell my customers, if youd buy the phones directly from the carrier, youre going to be guaranteed better coverage and usage trather than buying unlocked phones....
...
I'd hate to be ur customer. Ur the type who sees the glass half empty huh? Btw my phone works great. Thank you ;)
...
no i work for a phone company so i know policies, and im smart enough to know that you dont buy brand new devices that just came out a week ago, just because their new. all new devices have issues, so you wait 2-3 months to wait forthose issues to be corrected then buy. whose fault is it that your an idiot?
...
Guess what? I'm replying with my Nexus. Pretty fast huh? Stop salivating on my post. Thank you.
...
Ahhhhhhh!!! đ¤Ŗ đ¤Ŗ đ¤Ŗ đ đ¤Ŗ đ đ Awesome! BTW, I always cruise this forum on my Cliq.
...
My wife has the Cliq, I may have to test the differences in speed out.
...
I think this is some funny $hit the cnet.com review I just watched yesterday, said the Nexus One was not capable of 3G. So why are users expecting 3G? DEE DEE DEE I don't do gsm service it sucks any ways and go figure now this. D'OH
...
Guess what, I got 3G service on my Nexus. All these forums are wrong. Or maybe they live in low populated areas where 3G is bad. I'm in Chicago, and our 3G is rockin!!
...
Yea, do you guys have the HSPA+ there yet? 7.2mbps DL?
...
not that i am aware of. last i heard was that Philladelphia was the only city testing 7.2 mbps. unless they've added Chicago not long ago. because my web is pretty fast when I'm not in a patchy area.
...
The network is already built. They are just waiting to turn it on.
