All I can say, this is one good idea. As long as it doesn't take longer to charge one's phone.

The cost of the mats is outta-this-world and its its just lazy. Just plug the darm phone in with the charger or car charger...

This does nothing for those of us that USE the phone... How can you use voice and data while this the phone on the mat? *duh* speakerphono = no thanks! *duh* blutooth = no thanks

Cant blame 'em, but not gonna get mass traction.

Yep, and microUSB is becoming increasingly more standard. By 2012 all phones in the U.S. are suppose to be able to charge using microUSB.

Yeah, I feel the same way you do. I like being able to plug my phone in AND use it at the same time. Besides isn't this product kind of like a surge protector kind of thing, where you can plug in multiple things, big wooop!!!

I can see this being good when they figure out how to do this within a 10 foot range of another device. They can build them into your cars, couches, chairs, etc and whenever you are near an enabled device you will start charging. This is a product that could be great for things like laptops and other internet connected equipment that has a high power drain. You can still be wirefree, and not worry about battery life. That would be amazing!

The amount of power that can be transmitted and the distance it can be delivered is directly proportional to the size of the coil and the magnetic conductivity of the material being used for the coils. Even with advanced materials, we're reaching really, really close to fundamental laws of the universe that determine how well this technology is capable of performing.

It's the same reason you have to use electron microscopes and other imaging methods to look at samples of r...

sure..and thats the point of continued research..remember when this wireless charging thing came out, most of us were surprised..i still remember how my customers react to me whenever i tell this thing on the palm pre..so right now as it is, we cannot cross out anything as impossible because as the mantra goes, impossible is nothing.. 🙂

We get a lot of customers asking about the tech. Supposedly it is big in Japan, where in some restaurants, you can set down your phone down to charge while eating, etc.....
Biggest advantage I see here, is being able to charge multiple devices at the same time while only plugging in the mat. Being able to charge while out to eat isn't so bad either.
Disadvantage: purchasing the ness equip to upgrade your device to the tech, and as of right now, only limited to devices like iPhone, PSP, Pre/Pixi and some Blackberry models.
