Sprint USED be on top of smartphones

Okay, I have had Sprint service since 2002, and have NEVER had any problems with service and am loyal because of that and lower-than-average pricing tiers.

The hardware lineup has always impressed me:
From the first camera phone and color screen phones, to the slimmest form factors and best PDA phones from 2003-2008 (Treo 300/600, Hitachi G1000 mammoth phone, HTC introduction: 6600 - 6800 etc.) Sprint was the place to go for the latest and greatest hardware. Say what you want, but the Palm Pre is a great phone and Sprint nabbed it with exclusivity (until spring of course)

NOW, Sprint is majorly upsetting me by providing little choice for a power user hungry for new technology. I am so tempted to switch to another carrier to upgrade my...

It's possible Sprint is holding off on high end phones until they're ready to release a WiMax phone.

I don't think sprint has the best device line up out there right now, but i also think you are neglecting some pretty good phones like the hero and moment

and in response to your 4g/wimax statement, if you read earlier today they announced a mifi sort of device that uses the 4g wimax network which is pretty cool

The Hero and Moment are great phones but lack some features and hardware the Droid and Nexus One have. It's crazy cause the Hero was the phone I was going to upgrade to but really wanted a 1GHz processor (for 3D and emulation). 528Mhz is simply not fast enough, esp. for Android 2.1. I also am looking for a 3.5" or larger screen with higher resolution. Both the Hero and Moment sport 320x480 screens and that's a little too low IMO.

The Droid and Nexus One screens are simply stunning in clarity and color.

I also like Android 2.1 but I'm sure sometime soon there will be an official (or unofficial) update.

There will be an update to 2.1 for pretty much all android phones, with the possible exception of the g1 (they might only get 2.0) seems updates are coming out left and right about the phones

I am shocked that a phone geek as yourself has completely lost touch with the wireless environment. You speak as if the phones coming out are the last. You should know that technology leap frogs.

It is amazing how childish some toy seekers are. Oh look they have that so I am going there. Oh now look. Now they have that so I am going back over there. Sprint is in a position to strike again. HD2 coming to Sprint after Tmo. And while it maybe rumor, I have confidential "rumor" that a samsung branded device with WiMax powered by Android, is in the wings of Sprint. Let Verizon customers enjoy the benefits of Palm. It's a great OS. We have had our time. Now see what comes. Sprint is grooming their network. Devices are built off of progression ...
