🙂 This phone like many have you already heard by now or if you haven't yet will be an UNLOCKED phone sold by GOOGLE itself. NO carrier will be picking this handset, Google wants to sell the product from their end.

Feel free to visit the article that went out this morning.

We did an article on it, too. 😉

The WSJ claims to have a source saying what's you're saying. We think it's likely. Google has been lobbying the FCC very hard for a few years to force carriers to open up their networks to phones like what's rumored.

Others are saying it may only be a dev phone. Keep in mind that Google does already sell Android phones directly, unlocked (the Dev Phone 1):

I clicked the link that you posted and it appears that its for the G1 based on the description. I'm not sure why anyone would pay $400 for the g1 though.

Well, it is a bit pricey from what it looks like right now but than again their are people out there spending a pretty penny for the iPhone.

I welcome what Google is trying to do and release the phone themselves without a carrier having exclusivity to it.

Any decent phone is going to cost that much without a carrier subsidy. Period.
