Factor in that a huge chunk of Verizon's customers live outside cities (thus in lower populated areas) and the usage is spread out even more.
And sorry, apple insider thought that $30 for tethering on the droid was higher than any other phone when i...

And despite what some people have said, AT&T's connection issues aren't widespread- their network is excellent in much of the southeastern US and midwest. I've found that it actually handles traffic surges better than Verizon or Sprint's network (for example, college football games where I've been entirely unable to place a call with Verizon but still managed data with AT&T with full bars on both).
But even a good network can get overloaded, and that's AT&T's problem in NYC and SF. AT&T's network in Charlotte supposedly h...

In the Charlotte area AT&T's network is far more consistent than Verizon's, I'm calling BS.
At Oklahoma games my AT&T phone never has coverage. Of course, just about everyone I know in the OKC area has AT&T so that is probably part of the problem. I do know Sprint works fine in the stadium, but not at the Cotton Bowl for the OU-Texas game- my AT&T phone works fine then. It really is just a matter of where you're standing at any given moment. All of the fights between AT&T and VZW are for show. Both networks are good but both have problems from time to time. Same is true for Sprint and T-Mobile for the most part. It is all a game trying to convince people that...

"There is no distinguishing between these two levels of service (one being similar to EDGE, the other being roughly twice as fast) on Verizon's coverage maps."
Actually there is, if you are covered by "Broadband access" you have EVDO Rev A. If you are covered by National Access you have either Rev O or 1xrtt.
It should me mentioned that Att doesn't even let you SEE the difference between their 3g and 2g coverage until you zoom in. Verizon's map is much more honest in this regard.
AT&T's data networks
Edge approaches EVDO Rev O, not Rev A, and Verizon's upload speeds are significantly faster.
Verizon is not arguing that where available, Att is fast, but they are pointing out that it's not avail ...

..and Android isn't even close. But enjoy that $350.00 ETF!
It doesnt violate the Terms of Service so nice try. Even people that know what they are talking about, unlike you, like Verizon Account Managers say Verizon isnt placing restrictions on the Android. They knew this going in and accepted the "open source" wonderfulness! Verizon knows its there. Its on every phones Market. PDANET has been out for quite a while now and people have been using it on all other advanced devices too. $30 data packages on Advanced devices is unlimited...there is no 5Gigs to worry about. Any other unknowledgeable information you would like to type?

2) There is a 5GB limit as it clearly states right there. I see no "Unlimited" option.
3) You're not even paying for the tethering program. That is explicity prohibited in the Verizon TOS right here:
"PDA/smartphone and BlackBerry® Plans: These VZEmail plans cannot be used: (1) for access to the Internet, intranets, or other data networks except as the device’s native applications and capabilities permit, unless you subscribe to Mobile Broadband Connect; or (2) for any applications that tether your device to laptops or personal computers other than for use of the Wireless ...

You fail at reading comprehension so let me break it down to a elementary level for you. Im speaking of the $30 data plans for cellular phones required by PDA's, Blackberries, Droids etc., That is Unlimited. IF you add a Broadband Access package to a Verizon phone to 'tether' with your phone, its another $30 extra which is 5 gigs a month allowance. A Aircard is 5 gigs a month for all carriers also. IF you have a $45 data package on a Blackberry with Corporate provsioning, its $15 extra. If you have the regular $30, its $30 extra to tether. Your not a Verizon rep so I dont truly expect you to see that I guess. The packages vary, from $15 to $30.
But Using PDANET app to tether, USING the basic $30 U...

See that? That's in the TOS for the $30.00 plan included with smartphones/Droid. Yes it's "unlimited", but you can't tether with it. Period. That's e-x-a-c-t-l-y what they me...

1) AT&T's network in San Francisco and NYC, where there is an extremely high concentration of iPhone users, has had congestion issues. So you've got the vocal blogger community whining about how bad their service is.
2) You've got Joe Average who got a dropped call here or there, read these articles, and decided "Hey, AT&T's bad here TOO!"
3) You've got a lot of network fanboys who are hopping on the anti-AT&T sentiment.
4) You've got a lot off people who are out of touch with the cell phone world, especially with the iPhone. They don't remember the days of owning a Pocket PC on Verizon Wireless / Sprint and not being able to place a call, or enjoying T-Mobile's huge coverage gaps before the Suncom merge, because befo...
