1. Mark the spot, ok if you are not getting coverage GPS does not work, calls nor text works. God, and those MAP things in most ATT areas it is 2g at best. Oh and your BARS, that is only a peice of embedded software for god sakes next time you drop a call or sounds like you are under water look at your BARs they are full bars reason beinging is the software nothing more. Yeah right more bars in more places LOL. Ask any FORMER tech support person from att they will tell you the truth.

1) If you are not getting cell coverage GPS may still work since GPS depends on these things called sat-uh-lites.

2) It is able to save the request until later and send it when you return to coverage, or operate over WiFi.

3) Ok nothing else here even makes sense. Enjoy your Tracfone.

1 - Unless your phone has autonomous GPS, you can only get approximate triangulation from your tower registrations at best. Not every phone has this foolio.

2 - You made my case for me...

3 - "Did you read how it works before you posted that dumb comment?"

(Assisted GPS)

A type of handset-based position location technology. To determine location, the phone takes readings from both GPS satellites and nearby cellular base stations (towers), with the help of a location server on the network.

The location server on the network is required to tell the phone which satellites to look for, and also to perform the complex calculations that provide precise location information.

They all make use of agps, however, for the 3G iPhones, this is supplementary as it is with all phones. The iPhone's GPS is able to function without cell service. (I use the motionX app when hiking)

I see you missed the point of my post. The point I was making was to show you that you are stupid, but I guess you are too stupid to know that...

You claimed it has GPS, when it really has A-GPS. I just wanted to correct your misinformed, misleading post.

And to clear things up, yes...

EVERY PHONE CAN USE GPS WITHOUT THE NETWORK. IT'S JUST NOT AS ACCURATE! (Not just your iPhone) 🙂
